<p>The Department of Media and Strategic Communication at Iona University is seeking dynamic adjunct professors to teach classes in the department for Fall 2025. While other openings could arise, we are mainly looking for those who could teach one of these classes:</p> <p>Media Writing (MSC 240)</p> <p>This foundational course required of all MSC majors is designed to develop students' skills in grammar, punctuation, AP style, and writing techniques across media contexts such as journalism, public relations, and strategic communication.</p> <p>Course Schedule:</p> <ul> <li>In-person class </li><li>Meets two evenings per week during the Spring 2026 semester </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Teach and manage one section of MSC 240: Media Writing </li><li>Deliver engaging lessons that help students grasp essential, but sometimes dry, material such as grammar and AP style </li><li>Provide feedback on assignments and quizzes with an emphasis on professional writing standards </li><li>Foster a supportive and interactive classroom environment </li><li>Maintain regular communication with students and the department </li><li>Submit grades and assessments in accordance with university policy </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree or higher, preferably in journalism, communication, media studies, English, or a related field </li><li>Previous teaching experience at the college level is preferred but not required </li><li>Previous experience working in a media field is preferred but not required </li><li>Familiarity with AP style and professional writing formats </li><li>Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills </li><li>Ability to engage and inspire students </li></ul> <p>Broadcast Journalism (MSC 330)</p> <p>This required Digital Media and Production course focuses on the journalistic processes of TV multimedia journalists, as well as radio journalism.</p> <p>Course Schedule:</p> <ul> <li>In-person class </li><li>Meets two afternoons per week during the Spring 2026 semester </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Teach one section of MSC 330: Broadcast Journalism </li><li>Develop engaging lessons that introduce students to core broadcast journalism </li><li>Provide timely feedback on assignments </li><li>Integrate real-world examples, and industry practices into the course </li><li>Maintain regular communication with students and departmental faculty </li><li>Submit grades and assessments per university deadlines </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree or higher in journalism, communication, media studies, or a closely related field </li><li>Professional experience working in broadcast journalism is preferred </li><li>Expertise with TV news story formats </li><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills </li><li>Experience teaching at the university level is preferred but not required </li></ul> <p>Advanced Editing (MSC 477)</p> <p>This Digital Media and Production elective covers advanced editing with a focus on Adobe After Affects and AI tools for post-production.</p> <p>Course Schedule:</p> <ul> <li>In-person class </li><li>Meets one evening per week during the Spring 2026 semester </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Teach one section of MSC 477: Advanced Editing </li><li>Develop engaging lessons that introduce students to Adobe After Effects, AI tools, and other post-production tools </li><li>Provide timely feedback on assignments </li><li>Integrate real-world examples, and industry practices into the course </li><li>Maintain regular communication with students and departmental faculty </li><li>Submit grades and assessments per university deadlines </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree or higher in production, communication, media studies, or a closely related field </li><li>Professional experience working in post-production is preferred </li><li>Expertise with Adobe After Effects, AI tools, and other post-production tools </li><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills </li><li>Experience teaching at the university level is preferred but not required </li></ul> <p>Special Topic: Working With Influencers and Content Creators (MSC 499)</p> <p>This PR elective covers how marketing and PR professionals can work with influencers and content creators, with an in-depth study of these emerging fields.</p> <p>Course Schedule:</p> <ul> <li>In-person class </li><li>Meets one evening per week during the Spring 2026 semester </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Teach one section of MSC 499: Special Topic: Working With Influencers and Content Creators </li><li>Develop engaging lessons that introduce students to the class topic </li><li>Provide timely feedback on assignments </li><li>Integrate real-world examples, and industry practices into the course </li><li>Maintain regular communication with students and departmental faculty </li><li>Submit grades and assessments per university deadlines </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree or higher in PR, marketing, communication, media studies, or a closely related field </li><li>Professional experience working in PR or marketing with content creators and influencers </li><li>Expertise with the work of content creators and influencers </li><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills </li><li>Experience teaching at the university level is preferred but not required </li></ul> <p>Graduate Course Rates - $1328-$1562 per credit, based on qualifications</p> <p>Undergraduate Course Rate - $1273 per credit</p>
