<p>General Position Summary: Help students improve their basic English language: reading, </p> <p>writing, and verbal. The Adult Education ESL Instructor provides appropriate instruction for groups </p> <p>and individuals using materials, tools, equipment, and scenarios to meet students' academic needs. </p> <p>Work with students to determine potential barriers to their success and work with them to implement </p> <p>solutions that ensure their success. Teaching may include face-to-face, online, day, or evening classes.</p> <p>Supervisor: Director of Adult Education</p> <p>Physical Demands: Lift up to 25 lbs.</p> <p>Work Environment: Frequent interaction with staff, students, and the public; Walking, sitting, </p> <p>standing, stooping, and bending </p> <p>Starting Pay: $25 per hour</p> <p>Schedule:</p> <ul> <li>Tuesdays (4:30 pm to 8 pm) </li><li>Thursdays (4:30 pm to 8 pm) </li><li>Or as needed outside this schedule for special events, meetings, or to meet student needs </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited educational institution  </li><li>Two years of teaching experience  </li><li>Bilingual - English & Spanish  </li><li>Satisfactory background check </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited educational institution with a concentration in  </li></ul> <p>Education</p> <ul> <li>Two years of teaching experience with adult learners over the age of 18  </li></ul> <p>Minimum Skills:</p> <ul> <li>Dependable - punctual  </li><li>Strong organizational skills </li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills </li><li>Ability to maintain confidentiality </li><li>Ability to prioritize tasks - good time-management skills  </li><li>Ability to work effectively with peers, administrators, and others </li><li>Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)  </li></ul> <p>Preferred Skills:</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrate proficiency in Canvas </li></ul> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Utilize and provide direct instruction through innovative, effective, and equitable teaching  </li></ul> <p>techniques </p> <ul> <li>Provide orientation and testing </li><li>Ensure student records are accurate and complete  </li><li>Participates in developing, revising, and monitoring the implementation of the curriculum </li><li>Assess levels of student achievement effectively, analyze test results, and prescribe actions for  </li></ul> <p>improvement</p> <ul> <li>Provide classroom instruction, feedback, and direct student learning using available technology  </li><li>Meet individually with students to determine skill level, industry experience, and  </li></ul> <p>education/training needs</p> <ul> <li>Guide students through assessments and create an individualized career plan </li><li>Coordinate supports that will assist students with attendance and participation in program  </li></ul> <p>activities and make referrals to partnering agencies as appropriate </p> <ul> <li>Completes reports, collects data, and provides information for program monitoring as requested </li><li>Meet all deadlines </li></ul> <p>Attends staff development programs, curriculum development meetings, and other professional </p> <p>activities</p> <ul> <li>Keeps abreast of developments, research, and new technology. </li><li>Participate in campus activities and recruitment  </li><li>Demonstrate a solid commitment to the River Parishes Community College Mission </li><li>Complete other duties as assigned by the Director of Adult Education  </li></ul> <p>(These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed.
