<p>Job Description</p> <p>The Mental Health Tech establishes a therapeutic relationship with assigned patients and helps patients with daily living. Responsible for the overall maintenance of a therapeutic environment. Takes vital signs, weighs patients and collects routine specimens. Relies on establish guidelines to accomplish tasks. Works under close supervision.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li> <p>Patient Care</p> </li><li> <p>Assists patient with activities of daily living, toileting, feeding, and grooming.</p> </li><li> <p>Make beds and clean rooms as necessary.</p> </li><li> <p>Takes and records patient vital signs including height, weight, blood pressure, pulse and respirations under the supervision of a nurse.</p> </li><li> <p>Assists with the admission process as directed.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide assisting in group setting as necessary under the direction of a nurse or therapist.</p> </li><li> <p>Assists in moving patients from place to place on and off the unit or area where assigned.</p> </li><li> <p>Assists with laundering of clothes as necessary or directed.</p> </li><li> <p>Redirects patients and uses proper technique to prevent patient aggression, falls or injury.</p> </li><li> <p>Retrieves medications from the pneumatic tube system and/or pharmacy and delivers the medications to the nurse and/or place medications in a secure location as determined by the nurse manager.</p> </li><li> <p>Documentation</p> </li><li> <p>Documents vital signs, activities of daily living, sleep hours, safety checks and environmental checks as appropriate.</p> </li><li> <p>Assists in documentation of group activities under the direction of a licensed professional.</p> </li><li> <p>Communication and Collaboration</p> </li><li> <p>Notifies nurse, therapist or physician of patient behaviors, needs and safety concerns.</p> </li><li> <p>Participates in treatment team process.</p> </li><li> <p>Conducts phone calls, takes messages and delivers messages as appropriate.</p> </li><li> <p>Orients patient to program.</p> </li><li> <p>Interacts with patients on a one-on-one basis in a therapeutic manner and reports relevant patient information.</p> </li><li> <p>Safety</p> </li><li> <p>Conducts environmental safety checks and notifies nurse of issues.</p> </li><li> <p>Conducts patient safety checks as directed.</p> </li><li> <p>Obtain and dispense belongings as appropriate at admission, discharge and throughout stay.</p> </li><li> <p>Follows organizational infection control procedures including, but not limited to handwashing and cleaning.</p> </li><li> <p>Inspects for contraband items as appropriate.</p> </li><li> <p>Monitors patients for potential hazards.</p> </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent</p> <p>Experience: Crisis Intervention Training within 90 days of employment</p> <p>Special Skills: Proficient in the English language, verbal and written communications skills, basic computer skills</p> <p>Certifications: BLS Certification</p>
