<p>This part-time position assists faculty in the College of Science (COS) and the College of Engineering, Applied Science, and Technology (EAST) with ensuring their online course materials meet DOJ accessibility standards by the April 2026 deadline. This involves auditing websites and individual files (e.g., .pdf and LaTeX documents) to meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA standards using provided toolkits. A key focus is on remediating complex materials common in these colleges, such as digital figures, videos, equations, mathematical symbols, technical drawings, and nonstandard notation. Candidates must have a combination of web accessibility, HTML coding, and document/image accessibility knowledge, and may be asked to perform both low-level and high-level remediation.</p> <p>This job is a great opportunity to get experience in the field. Days and hours are flexible to work around your schedule. You must be available to work 20-29 hours per week.</p> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <p>AS or equivalent amount of relevant education or experience in IT or Web Design.</p> <p>Basic understanding of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA standards.</p> <p>Basic understanding of HTML and document remediation (e.g., for PDF and LaTex files).</p> <p>Good customer service and communication skills for coordinating with faculty and WSU Online/IT staff.</p> <p>Ability to self-manage and keep track of multiple projects and deadlines.</p> <p>Ability to work with complex materials, including mathematical symbols, technical drawings, and nonstandard notation.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <p>Domain knowledge in at least one of the technical areas: Math, Physical Science, Life Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science. Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) training or certification. Advanced HTML and CSS, and basic Javascript/responsive web design knowledge.</p> <p>Previous experience with document remediation for complex technical content (e.g., equations, diagrams).</p> <p>Experience with specialized software and tools used for web and document accessibility.</p> <p>Previous experience with a content management system (experience with Weber State's Site Manager is a plus).</p> <p>Background Check? Exerting up to 20 lbs of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Use of arm and/or leg controls exerting forces greater than that for sedentary work. Visual Acuity Requirements including color, depth perception and field of vision. Required to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; using a computer terminal; extensive reading., Required to have close visual acuity to inspect small defects, small parts at distances close to the eye., Required to have visual acuity to perform activities such as: operating machines, (i.e. lathes, drill presses, power saws) where the job is at or within arm's reach; skilled trades tasks of a non-repetitive nature, such as carpenter, plumber, mechanic. , Required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned (i.e., custodial, food services,) or to make general observations of facilities or structures (i.e., security guard, inspection). The conditions the worker will be subject to in this position. None. The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (such as in typical office or administrative work).</p>
