<p>Job Responsibilities</p> <p>Operates medium-sized equipment such as tractor with 15' batwing mowers and combination tractor with side-mounted mowers in roadside and right-of-way clearing operations in conjunction with highway and bridge maintenance operations. Performs skilled manual labor in various duties such as removing fallen trees from roadway, cutting dead trees on right-of-way and low hanging limbs over roadway. May direct mowing and right-of-way clearing operations. Operates heavier equipment such as motor graders, backhoes, slope mowers, and other specialized mowing equipment for maintaining and clearing vegetation and debris. Operates tandem and single-axle dump trucks with trailers for hauling material and transporting equipment for maintenance and construction operations. Operates and maintains powered tools in various phases of roadway maintenance related to assigned tasks such as tree and vegetation removal, cleaning pipes and ditches, limb trimming, weed eating, facility maintenance, and litter and dead animal removal. Conducts safety inspection on all assigned vehicles and maintains equipment. Performs other related duties as assigned.</p> <p>Minimum and Additional Requirements</p> <p>Six (6) months of related work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence. Necessary Special Requirement: A valid motor vehicle operator's license is required upon entry to the position. Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.</p> <p>The physical demands for the essential functions involves bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and grasping. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Walking for extended periods, treading rough terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and in natural environmental hazards.
