As the "face" of the university, the mascot helps foster school spirit and engages with the campus and community in a fun, professional, and approachable manner. We are seeking an energetic and enthusiastic student to bring Freddie to life at athletic events, campus programs, and community appearances.</p> <p>Job Duties & Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li> <p>Represent Fairmont State University at the following events:</p> </li><li> <p>Home athletic events</p> </li><li> <p>Select away athletic games and tournaments (as needed)</p> </li><li> <p>Foundation and alumni events</p> </li><li> <p>Student activities and campus events (typically 1-2 hours in length)</p> </li><li> <p>Campus visitation programs, including Parent & Family Weekend, Maroon & White Days, and Open Houses</p> </li><li> <p>Limited community engagements and outreach events</p> </li><li> <p>Additional events as designated by Campus Recreation or the Office of the President</p> </li><li> <p>Generate crowd interaction, school spirit, and positive fan experiences at all appearances</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in in-game promotions, halftime shows, and fan engagement activities</p> </li><li> <p>Pose for photos with fans and event attendees</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain mascot costume and equipment, ensuring it is clean and in good condition</p> </li><li> <p>Uphold a professional, respectful demeanor as a representative of Fairmont State University at all times</p> </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li> <p>Must be a current full-time undergraduate or graduate student enrolled at Fairmont State University</p> </li><li> <p>Must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale</p> </li><li> <p>Physically capable of wearing and performing in the mascot costume, including:</p> </li><li> <p>Executing athletic and animated movements</p> </li><li> <p>Managing varying temperatures inside the costume (hydration and rest breaks are required)</p> </li><li> <p>Must have no health or physical conditions that would pose a safety risk while performing as Freddie</p> </li><li> <p>Must have personal health insurance and complete both a Medical Release Form and a Code of Conduct Agreement</p> </li><li> <p>Must demonstrate strong school spirit, enthusiasm, and a willingness to engage with diverse audiences</p> </li><li> <p>Flexible schedule is required; institutional excuses will be provided for any approved events that conflict with academic classes</p> </li></ul> <p>Notes to Applicant Student Appointment Length Academic Year Base Hourly Rate Tuition Waiver & Stipend Quicklink for Posting https://www.fairmontstatejobs.com/postings/7927</p> <p>Department/Supervision</p> <p>Department Falcon Center & Student Recreation Employment Location Position will report to (title) Intramural & Club Sports Coordinator</p> <p>Recruitment/Advertising</p> <p>Anticipated Hire Date 06/01/2025 Job Posting Date 05/06/2025 Job Close Date</p> <p>Supplemental Questions</p> <p>Required fields are indicated with an asterisk (*).</p>
