This position will work directly with Park and Recreation's Business Office performing general accounting functions. This includes but is not limited to assisting with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions for our recreation facilities, data entry of all deposit tickets and cash receipts, and financial reporting. The incumbent will also maintain contact with supervisors and managers regarding deposit reconciliations and refunds. The successful candidate will have a strong attention to detail and have experience in accounts receivable roles. If you are looking to grow in your career, or transition laterally into a new role, don't miss this opportunity to apply!</p> <p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS</p> <ul> <li>At least two (2) years of Business Office experience </li><li>Concur experience highly preferred </li></ul> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS</p> <ul> <li>Analyze and monitor compliance with financial, reporting, and legal requirements </li><li>Prepare, review, reconcile and submit reports and/or statements to internal departments, financial institutions, and external agencies </li><li>Organize, prepare, and review budget documentation; determine revenue and expenditure coding; review expenditure and reconcile budget proceeds </li><li>Prepare invoices for payment authorization; assigns expenditures to proper cost center; verifies posting of expenditures and maintains accounts payable ledger and records </li><li>Enter and maintain automated and manual accounting records; perform data entry for accounting operations and verifies accuracy </li><li>Prepare a variety of financial and accounting records and reports including revenue and expenditure reports, executive summaries, and aging reports </li><li>Review and audit source documents and posts transactions; prepares reports and reconciles ledgers </li><li>Coordinate with department to assess needs and requirements for fiscal monitoring and reporting </li><li>Review data collected and monitors budgets to provide accurate and timely financial information to internal departments and outside reporting agencies </li><li>Provide ongoing technical assistance to departments on fiscal policies and procedures and budget guidelines </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>Experience: No experience required</p> <p>Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration</p> <p>Combination of relevant education and relevant experience accepted?: Yes</p> <p>Licenses/Certifications: May require a North Carolina or South Carolina Driver's License</p> <p>Computer Skills: Proficient in various computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite and Intermediate in Microsoft Excel</p> <p>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES</p> <p>Knowledge:</p> <ul> <li>Budgetary principles </li><li>Federal, State, and local laws, rules, and regulations </li><li>Governmental accounting procedures </li><li>Generally Accepted Accounting Principles </li><li>Arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications </li><li>The structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar </li><li>Principles and processes for providing customer service </li></ul> <p>Skills:</p> <ul> <li>Proficiency in financial analysis </li><li>Interpretation of financial documents </li><li>Qualitative and quantitative analysis </li><li>Working with balance sheets and financial statements, journal entries, knowledge of account classifications, understand chart of accounts </li><li>Active Listening- Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting </li><li>Talking to others to convey information effectively </li><li>Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems </li><li>Using mathematics to solve problems </li></ul> <p>Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Building Partnerships: Identifying opportunities and taking action to build strategic relationships between one's area and other areas, teams, departments, units or organizations to help achieve business goals </li><li>Communication: Clearly conveying information and ideas through a variety of media to individuals or groups in a manner that engages the audience and helps them understand and retain the information provided </li><li>Decision Making: Identifying and understanding issues, problems and opportunities;
