<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Greenwich Public Schools seeks full-time (35 hours/week, school year) professional assistants (paraeducators) across all grade levels in the Greenwich Public Schools. Professional assistants provide instructional support to students in small groups and one-to-one settings under the direction of a certified teacher. An updated collective bargaining agreement provides competitive salary and benefits. Base salary ranges from $25.24/hr. to $29.94/hr., with additional stipend pay of up to $5,500 annually available for professional assistants with special responsibilities.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li> <p>Effectively implements instructional plans by:</p> </li><li> <p>communicating clearly and respectfully.</p> </li><li> <p>actively encouraging student participation in decision making and task planning.</p> </li><li> <p>explaining classroom activities and routines.</p> </li><li> <p>encouraging student participation in activities.</p> </li><li> <p>encouraging an appropriate level of independence.</p> </li><li> <p>Provides feedback on student performance.</p> </li><li> <p>Supports program implementation of goals and objective by:</p> </li><li> <p>following behavioral intervention plans.</p> </li><li> <p>participating in program development.</p> </li><li> <p>following classroom routines.</p> </li><li> <p>implements teacher's instructional plans.</p> </li><li> <p>Participates in team planning activities as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains strict confidentiality of students and families.</p> </li><li> <p>Refers questions from family members to supervising staff as appropriate.</p> </li><li> <p>Proactively prepares to fulfill his/her responsibilities by gathering necessary materials/resources before the school day begins.</p> </li><li> <p>Provides for the physical needs of students including lifting and toileting; using mechanical lift equipment and transfer aids as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Attends in-services and other training as required.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs related work as required.</p> </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrates knowledge in the areas of reading, writing, and math. </li><li>Demonstrates understanding of students' individualized education plans (IEPs) and individual student needs including implications of disabilities on student performance and behavior. </li><li>Knowledge of proper body mechanics. </li><li>Ability to multi-task and to perform a variety of functions in a fast-paced public setting. </li><li>Communicates effectively with staff including the ability to express concerns appropriately. </li><li>Follows recommendations and directions efficiently and effectively. </li><li>Asks for clarification when needed. </li><li>Physical ability to perform the functions of the job and complete the tasks. </li><li>Ability to organize and coordinate work. </li><li>Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents. </li><li>Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth. </li><li>Follows policies and procedures set forth by the school district. </li><li>Ability to use good judgement. </li><li>Assists colleagues in a positive manner. </li></ul> <p>Additional Duties</p> <p>Some positions may require regular lifting and physical support of students who weigh more than fifty (50) pounds.</p> <p>Equipment</p> <p>Use of district-issued digital tools.</p> <p>Qualifications Profile</p> <p>Professional assistants must possess an Associate's Degree, a passing score on the ParaPro Competency Exam, or equivalent experience.
