<p>Actalent is partnering with a major member-owned electric Utility in Virginia to support essential GIS operations that keep power flowing to local communities. We're looking for a GIS Technician to join a highly collaborative team responsible for maintaining accurate data that drives electric distribution, asset management, and outage response.</p> <p>This position centers on hands-on production GIS work-ensuring the utility's system-of-record remains precise, dependable, and ready to support real-time operational needs.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Update and maintain electric distribution GIS data, including poles, lines, devices, services, and related assets </li><li>Convert as-built drawings, plats, and field notes into high-quality GIS data </li><li>Perform data editing, validation, and QA/QC to maintain accuracy and integrity </li><li>Provide timely GIS updates that support day-to-day operations and outage response </li><li>Work with engineers, operations personnel, and field crews to resolve data discrepancies </li><li>Create basic maps and GIS deliverables for internal teams </li><li>Follow established GIS standards, workflows, and documentation practices </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Associate's or Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geospatial Science, Geography, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience) </li><li>1-3+ years of practical GIS experience </li><li>Strong proficiency with Esri tools (ArcGIS Pro / ArcMap; ArcGIS Online or Enterprise a plus) </li><li>Experience working with utility or linear infrastructure datasets (electric, telecom, water, gas, etc.) </li><li>High attention to detail and the ability to thrive in an accuracy-focused production environment </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Experience supporting electric utility GIS or similar regulated infrastructure </li><li>Familiarity with as-built processing and field-to-GIS workflows </li><li>Exposure to AutoCAD or interpreting engineering drawings </li></ul> <p>Work Environment</p> <ul> <li>Full-time, Monday-Friday </li><li>Onsite role supporting operational needs - Will offer Hybrid schedule once training is complete </li><li>Work contributes directly to critical infrastructure and community reliability </li></ul> <p>Job Type & Location</p> <p>This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fredericksburg, VA.</p> <p>Pay and Benefits</p> <p>The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $42.00/hr.</p> <p>Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
