All City hiring decisions are made without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local laws.</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>Under the direction of the Director of Recreation, the Recreation Center Director is responsible for the planning and execution of recreation programs; directs and supervises personnel, administration, maintenance of budget, and neighborhood coordination at an assigned recreation center, recreation building, or a combined indoor/outdoor center; and related work as required.</p> <p>Duties & Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Plans and implements diversified programs of activities related to the recreational interests and needs of the people served by the center. </li><li>Demonstrates, teaches, and leads recreational activities in the center. </li><li>Plans, assigns duties, and supervises the work of staff members. </li><li>Enlists, trains, and supervises volunteer leaders. </li><li>Develops cooperative working relationships with staff members and the general public; works cooperatively with neighborhood groups and agencies in developing center programs and neighborhood recreation projects. </li><li>Ensures that structures, facilities, areas, and equipment are maintained in safe condition. </li><li>Performs routine administrative tasks as directed. </li><li>Performs other related duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Degree in recreation, physical education, or a related major from an accredited college or university. </li><li>Minimum of two (2) years experience in a closely related field of which a minimum of one (1) year experience shall be in youth programming and program maintenance. </li><li>Successful completion of basic first aid training and certification in CPR. </li><li>Must successfully complete and pass a BCI check. </li><li>Must possess and maintain a valid State Driver's license. </li><li>Ability to work a flexible schedule on an annual basis. </li><li>Skills in and operation of all activities conducted at a recreation center to develop a well-balanced diversified program. </li><li>Practical knowledge of the organization of leagues, tournaments, exhibits, demonstrations, and entertainments. </li><li>Skill in a minimum of three (3) types of activities including, but not limited to, athletics, dramatics, story telling, organized games, social recreation, informal discussion, nature study, folk dancing, music, and hand crafts. </li><li>Interpersonal skills developed through public interaction; the ability to work intelligently with parents and neighborhood leaders. </li><li>Ability to program the effective use of staff, to recognize and recommend leaders, and to supervise the work of others; skill in management organization. </li><li>Must be able to perform all essential functions of the job. </li></ul> <p>Posting expires when filled.</p> <p>APPLY NOW</p>
