As a team member at DuPage County, you will also have access to time off with pay on Designated Holidays or holiday pay if required to work, Vacation time, Sick time, and Personal days.</p> <p>To learn more about the cost and coverage of the benefits plan, visit Employees Benefit Information</p> <p>For detailed information on paid time off, visit Local 150 Contract</p> <p>DuPage County is an Equal Opportunity Employer Responsibilities include:</p> <ul> <li>Performs a variety of horticultural tasks including mowing, pruning, planting and transplanting. </li><li>Mixes and applies pesticides and fertilizers. </li><li>Performs turf renovation by core certification and overseeding. </li><li>Removes damaged sod and installs new sod. </li><li>Cultivates and maintains planting beds, tree rings, etc. </li><li>Performs plowing, loading and hauling of snow from County grounds including roadways, parking facilities, walks and entry ways. </li><li>Loads and applies de-icing chemicals. </li><li>Hauls and moves materials, supplies, furnishings and machinery. </li><li>Operates a variety of equipment such as small dump truck, snowplow, snow blower, skid steer, salt spreader, sod cutter, rototiller, chain saw, trimmers, sweeper, front end loader, backhoe, forklift, a variety of hand tools. </li><li>Services and maintains a wide variety of tools, machinery, and vehicles including tune up, oil change, cylinders, blades and tires. </li><li>Repairs and installs electrical systems in vehicles. </li><li>May use a variety of shop equipment including welder, sandblaster, grinder, cutting torch, air sprayer, power washer, mechanical hand tools, etc. </li><li>Installs seasonal equipment. </li><li>Locates and removes refuse from County property; installs signs, performs traffic control duties. </li></ul> <p>Requirements include the following experience or equivalent combination of training and experience:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Completion of a High School Diploma or GED equivalent</p> </li><li> <p>Three (3) years of experience in landscaping or grounds keeping which include two years' experience in the operation and maintenance of moderate sized motorized equipment as it relates to grounds maintenance</p> </li><li> <p>Must possess and maintain in good standing, a valid Illinois Driver's License</p> </li><li> <p>Must possess the State of Illinois Department of Agriculture Pesticide Operators License in good standing, or be enrolled to complete the exam to renew this license within 6 months of hire</p> </li></ul> <p>A post offer physical is required.</p> <p>A pre-employment background check is required.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS</p> <p>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
