<p>Job Description:</p> <p>We invite prospective applicants to apply for the position of SCIENCE TEACHER - MIDDLE SCHOOL at the Southern Lehigh School District.</p> <p>KEY RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <p>The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic professional with teaching experience. Candidates must have a valid PA teaching certificate and specific experience teaching secondary level science students. Must have a strong background teaching general science including a variety of science topics to middle level learners. Candidates will be able to effectively teach scientific theories and concepts. Must have experience teaching in a lab setting. Must possess strong instructional skills and have demonstrated effective classroom management practices. Must share in the District's mission to promote student success in a supportive positive school climate. Excellent communication, organizational and collaboration skills are required. Demonstrated ability to build relationships with students, parents, staff and administration. Must be a skilled user of technology and able to teach in a technology rich, 1:1 school environment. The successful candidate must possess the ability to effectively collaborate and communicate with Special Education colleagues, and to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of a diverse population of learners (ie., Special Education, Gifted, English Language Learners, etc.).</p> <p>Career and Technology Exploration (CTE) 157- The CTE course consists of Career Exploration, Career Acquisition, and Career Day's Mock Interview. During the course, file management, word processing, and an introduction to spreadsheets are covered while creating career Portfolio artifacts. Proper Keyboarding speed and accuracy are developed throughout the course using a self-paced typing program.</p> <p>POSITION REQUIREMENTS</p> <p>Certification: A valid (active) Pennsylvania Instructional I/ II certification in Middle Level Science 6-9 or Grades 4-8 Science certificate required.</p> <p>Experience: Previous experience with teaching and supporting students in (Grades 7-8) in Science preferred.</p> <p>Note: Selected candidates must be able to produce valid [1] PA State Criminal Record Check (ACT 34), [2] FBI Criminal History Record Investigation (ACT 114), [3] PA DHS Child Abuse History Clearance (ACT 151). and [4] PA Arrest/Conviction Report Certification Form (ACT 24) all within one year of issue at the time of hire.</p> <p>COMPENSATION</p> <p>FLSA EXEMPT: in accordance with the SLSD-SLEA Collective Bargaining Agreement</p> <p>DIRECTIONS</p> <p>Please complete an online application and attach supporting documentation (Cover Letter and Resume).
