Accommodation is available upon request for candidates taking part in the selection process.</p> <p>AXIS is seeking a Head of Reinsurance Liability Claims and Manager of North America Reinsurance Claims Team to join our Global Reinsurance Claims team. This position combines the responsibilities of managing a diverse portfolio of property and casualty reinsurance claims and overseeing the North America Reinsurance P&C Claims team. This role reports directly to the Global Head of Reinsurance Claims. The candidate should possess the ability to lead and develop a sophisticated team of reinsurance claims professionals handling and managing a wide variety of claims involving Liability including Management Liability, D&O, E&O, EPL, Cyber, various Professional Lines and Design Specialties and Environmental claims. Using data-driven reporting and productivity metrics, this leader will develop the optimal target operating model to deliver best-in-class service for AXIS clients and that provides career paths for AXIS reinsurance claim professionals to grow and develop. This role will also be responsible for delivering the AXIS Reinsurance Claims value proposition engaging with stakeholders, brokers, and insureds to ensure constant communication and service engagement distinguishes AXIS claims every day.</p> <p>This role will lead and develop a team of claims professionals to provide best-in-class service and is responsible for:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Direct supervision and management of reinsurance claims including the investigation, analysis and evaluation of evaluation of primary coverage, damages, and reinsurance liability including valuation of AXIS exposure and reserves within best practices.</p> </li><li> <p>Leading and developing a team of reinsurance claims professionals managing various claim types including Professional Liability, General Liability, Casualty, Marine, Surety, and other specialty lines</p> </li><li> <p>Providing strategic direction, coaching, and mentoring to the team, ensuring professional growth and development across the whole team.</p> </li><li> <p>Managing team resources, workloads, and processes to ensure optimal efficiency and customer service, including compliance with Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to ensure delivery of internal and external service levels</p> </li><li> <p>Managing costs, including cedent audit expenses, team development, professional designations, conferences and seminars, and participation in broker and cedent meetings</p> </li><li> <p>Engaging with Claims Operations, cedents, brokers, and third-party vendors to identify opportunities for claims mitigation and process improvements</p> </li><li> <p>Identifying, liability and coverage issues or developing trends impacting individual cedents and/or the portfolio; and formulating the processes and strategies for managing these developments</p> </li><li> <p>Supporting underwriting inquiries regarding loss development and contract drafting as well as reporting about claim trends, loss trends, claims KPIs, and emerging risk assessments for the reinsurance claims team</p> </li><li> <p>Participating in and supervising team members' participation in cedent claim audits, including reporting results and communication with underwriting, ensuring a consistent feedback loop to optimize the value of the audits</p> </li><li> <p>Staying abreast of industry developments and identifying, monitoring, and elevating emerging claim trends and new risks to management and stakeholders; participate in professional associations, development activities, and industry conferences; promote the AXIS brand</p> </li><li> <p>Recruiting, hiring and retaining top talent and develop appropriate succession plans</p> </li><li> <p>Building and maintaining key relationships with internal stakeholders (e.g., Underwriting, Actuarial, executive management) and external stakeholders (e.g., brokers, cedents, attorneys).</p> </li><li> <p>Extensive communication with and reporting to senior executives, underwriters, brokers, reinsurers, actuaries, insureds, and auditors (both external and internal); ability to prepare reports, presentation materials and to explain claims data and cedent audit results</p> </li><li> <p>AXIS Culture and Values -demonstrate the AXIS behaviors that support and align with AXIS values: People, Decisiveness, Excellence and Stronger Together everyday</p> </li></ul> <p>KEY SKILLS & ABILITIES</p> <p>7-10+ years of claims management, including reinsurance claims management specific lines of business as well as:</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and management skills </li><li>A public profile and reputation for leadership and technical excellence </li><li>Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate at all organizational levels, both internally and externally as well as the ability to identify and resolve complex, disputed claims </li><li>Analytical and data proficiency to drive results, make decisions and drive outcomes </li><li>Understanding of and ability to balance both the immediate claim issues as well as the broader portfolio impact and customer service impact of coverage disputes and issues </li><li>Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to deal effectively with people with conflicting expectations, differing opinions, and multiple viewpoints </li><li>Demonstrated ability and experience handling claims involving a wide variety of loss scenarios, including CAT losses, as well as reporting and presenting about same to senior management </li><li>In-depth knowledge of reinsurance claims and related reinsurance terminology, contracts, litigation, arbitration, and trial processes as well as excellent analytical, investigative, and negotiating skills </li><li>Law Degree and admission in good standing to one of the fifty state bars or educational equivalent is a plus </li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI </li><li>Travel is associated with this role (e.g., team management, broker & client meetings, conferences & other marketing) </li></ul>
