We are committed to protecting the people of Louisiana with integrity, accountability, and a deep respect for the rights and dignity of all.</p> <p>This is a promotional opportunity for current LA Department of Corrections employees who have permanent status and are ready to advance in their career.</p> <p>The ARDC Manager role provides oversight of a staff of supervisors and specialists, while ensuring efficient and accurate time computation and release processes for those sentenced to the Department of Public Safety and Corrections. It facilitates coordination between multiple facilities, and ensures compliance with any updates or changes to departmental policy, and applicable state and local laws affecting inmate records, under the supervision of the Program Manager 1. The position acts as a central point of contact managing the day to day operations of the PreClassification Department. </p> <p>Two years of the required experience in the following minimum qualifications must have been in offender records analysis, offender classification, or offender pre-classification:</p> <p>Seven years of experience in offender records analysis, offender classification, offender pre-classification, security, or social services or as a probation or parole officer; OR</p> <p>Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus four years of experience in offender records analysis, offender classification, offender pre-classification, probation and parole, security, or social services; OR</p> <p>A bachelor's degree plus four years of experience in offender records analysis, offender classification, offender pre-classification, probation and parole, security, or social services; OR</p> <p>An advanced degree in a social science or social work or a juris doctorate plus three years of experience in offender records analysis, offender classification, offender pre-classification, probation and parole, security, or social services.</p> <p>EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:</p> <p>Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.</p> <p>The official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found here.</p> <p>Job Duties: </p> <ul> <li>Supervises and evaluates ARDC Supervisors and a staff of approximately 20-30 employees to ensure operational efficiency, accuracy, and compliance with departmental procedures and policies. </li><li>Provides leadership, guidance, and oversight to staff to ensure information is communicated effectively and work is completed accurately and timely. </li><li>Utilizes advanced knowledge of time computation procedures to address complex inquiries and resolve issues related to sentence calculations and offender records. </li><li>Trains and mentors subordinate staff on time computation policies, procedures, and best practices to promote consistency, accuracy, and professional development. </li><li>Monitors staff performance and workflow to ensure quality standards are maintained and operational goals are achieved. </li><li>Assists in developing and implementing procedures to improve efficiency, accuracy, and accountability within the unit. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment:</p> <ul> <li>Employee will supervise ARDC Supervisors. </li></ul> <p>Position-Specific Details: </p> <p>Appointment Type: Promotion of a permanent, classified employee of LA DPS&C - CORRECTIONS SERVICES (Adult DOC) </p> <ul> <li>The selected employee may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted, or may be required to accept a probational appointment. </li></ul> <p>Compensation: The maximum amounts listed are the maximum salary amounts a person can make at each level over their career and NOT the amount we are allowed to pay a new hire.</p> <p>Other Important Information:</p> <ul> <li>IMPORTANT: In the supplemental questions section, applicants must authorize the HR Office of DPS&C-Corrections Services to contact prior employers to check references under the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA), to be considered for employment, by answering 'YES' to the PREA question. </li><li>Any degree, certificate, special license, or DD-214 must be verified by official documentation prior to hire. </li><li>Any qualifying experience that is based on college credit/college hours should have an accompanying transcript for verification. </li><li>This Agency is a Drug-Free Workplace. </li></ul> <p>How to Apply:</p> <p>No Civil Service test score is required in order to be considered for this vacancy. </p> <p>To apply for this vacancy, click on the "Apply" link above and complete an electronic application, which can be used for this vacancy as well as future job opportunities.
