<p>JEVS Human Services has an exciting opportunity to join the team at our Orleans Technical College as a Plumbing and Heating Instructor. Under the supervision of the Academic Affairs Director, the instructor will be responsible for teaching students through hands-on projects and theory in safety, math, and other basics of plumbing and heating.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Provide instruction, as specified in the curriculum, in the basics of plumbing and heating </li><li>Supervise students in hands-on trades tasks </li><li>Provide evaluation of students on hands-on activities </li><li>Provide testing of students' knowledge of theory </li><li>Prepare curricula materials </li><li>Utilize varying delivery methods and media to keep students engaged with the lesson for the full class day </li><li>Ensure that safety, classroom and school rules are followed consistently and take appropriate measures when they are not </li><li>Ensure that classroom and shop areas are kept clean and orderly </li><li>Maintain student attendance and grade rosters </li><li>Ensure that a professional training environment is maintained in the classroom and shop areas at all times </li><li>Place orders for supplies and materials according to school policy in a timely manner to ensure the smooth progression of instruction </li><li>Perform related duties and assignments as required </li></ul> <p>ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Communicate regularly with Student & Career Services teams regarding student performance as it relates to job openings and potential employers. </li><li>Implement changes to curricula and lesson plans to incorporate approved/relevant online and digital content, new textbooks, new testing software, new instructor resources, new equipment </li><li>Digest Program Advisory Committee (employer) input; accommodate improvements as necessary when recommended by management. </li><li>Maintain and utilize daily lesson plans that accurately reflect course curriculum </li><li>Continually develop and refine classroom management and effective presentation skills </li><li>Consistently assign and assess student library projects in accordance with accreditation standards </li><li>Ensure that safety, classroom, and school rules are followed consistently and that a professional training environment is maintained in the classroom and shop areas at all times </li><li>Develop and adhere to a regular schedule to take and report inventory in workshop. </li><li>Submit purchase requests according to policy and process; assist with confirming delivery and receipt of materials </li><li>Revise Bill of Materials requirements annually </li><li>Assist with new instructor interviews/hiring process </li><li>Evaluate growth opportunities for Orleans Technical College by providing input to customized training opportunities; short-term training opportunities </li><li>Suggest and participate in professional development (in person and online) opportunities to remain current in field of training as well as in effective instruction methods </li><li>Where applicable, maintain industry certifications </li><li>Participate in graduation ceremonies </li></ul> <p>This position is part-time, Monday-Thursday, 5:30pm-10:15pm.</p> <p>Part-time instructor pay rate is $32.50.</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>3+ years experience diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing residential and commercial systems; experience working with heat pumps, gas and oil-fired furnaces, ductwork, radiant heat, etc. </li><li>Must have EPA certification </li><li>Knowledge of electrical theory and heating theory is a must </li><li>Must have experience soldering and brazing </li></ul> <p>The base pay for this position is $32.50 Base pay is one part of the Total Compensation that JEVS Human Services provides to recognize employees for their work.
