<p>Job Summary</p> <p>The Kitchen Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of food service at Park Place Children's Center. This includes planning menus in compliance with state and CACFP guidelines, managing food preparation and distribution, ensuring food safety and sanitation practices, and supervising kitchen team members. The Kitchen Manager plays a key role in supporting the health and well-being of the children through the delivery of nutritious, well-prepared meals.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Plan and maintain a weekly menu that meets: </li><li>State nutrition standards </li><li>Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) guidelines </li><li>Oversee preparation and timely delivery of two meals and one snack per day to each classroom </li><li>Purchase necessary foods, beverages, and supplies to execute the menu </li><li>Complete requisitions for food and kitchen needs </li><li>Supervise kitchen team members, delegate tasks, and ensure staff follow safety and sanitation protocols </li><li>Train and monitor team members in: </li><li>Proper handwashing </li><li>Use of hairnets, gloves, and aprons </li><li>Correct food temperatures and documentation </li><li>Safe food storage, labeling, and dating procedures </li><li>Approved dishwashing and sanitizing procedures </li><li>Maintain accurate records for CACFP and health department compliance </li><li>Provide appropriate food alternatives for children with allergies or dietary restrictions </li><li>Ensure kitchen cleanliness and organization </li><li>Coordinate with the administrative team regarding budgets, special events, and food service needs </li><li>Perform cooking, cleaning, and support duties as needed to maintain daily operations </li></ul> <p>Qualifications & Competencies</p> <p>Required Skills and Attributes:</p> <ul> <li>Strong cooking and food preparation skills </li><li>Basic math skills (measuring, counting, multiplication) </li><li>Strong organizational and time management abilities </li><li>Attention to detail, especially in food safety and documentation </li><li>Leadership skills with the ability to train, motivate, and manage a team </li><li>Friendly, flexible, and service-oriented attitude </li><li>Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, child-centered environment </li></ul> <p>Education & Certification Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Food Protection Manager Certification (Required) </li><li>Experience in a commercial or institutional kitchen is preferred </li><li>Knowledge of CACFP is a plus </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Must be able to stand for extended periods </li><li>Must be able to bend, reach, and lift up to 35-50 lbs </li></ul>
