<p>The Associate Director, Admissions and Recruitment is part of the Admissions team in the Law School at Vanderbilt University and is responsible for recruitment of J.D. students to the law school, review of applications, recommendation of actions, and plans and assists with J.D. admissions and recruitment services.</p> <p>Among the nation's leading law schools, Vanderbilt stands out for its distinguished faculty; highly talented students; collegial and collaborative school culture; graduates' top-tier employment outcomes; and global alumni network. The Admissions Office team of six professionals and one support staff is responsible for student recruitment, admissions, and scholarships for Vanderbilt's highly ranked J.D. programs. As part of the J.D. application process, our unique Admission Interview Program includes more than 800 VLS alumni conducting in-person interviews in 46 states, Washington, DC, and 12 foreign locations. The Admissions Office serves prospective students, the Law School, and the legal profession through its commitment to high standards of professional conduct and ethical behavior; accuracy and candor in providing information to prospective students; adherence to principles of equity and inclusion; respect for confidentiality; and excellent customer service.</p> <p>Key Functions and Expected Performance:</p> <p>Student Recruitment</p> <ul> <li>Counsel prospective J.D. students and admitted applicants in person, by phone/Zoom, and in writing </li><li>Work closely with admitted applicants providing information about the law school and Nashville and arranging contacts with current students, faculty, or campus or local organizations of interest </li><li>Represent the law school at J.D. recruiting events across the nation and abroad - requires extensive travel. </li><li>Give tours of the law school to prospective students and other visitors </li><li>Host alumni interview and recruiting events in various locations </li><li>Assist in planning and participates in on-campus Admitted Students Programs </li><li>Manage the Admissions Student Admissions Ambassador Program including recruiting students from a broad range of backgrounds and organizing weekly tour schedules. </li></ul> <p>Student Selection</p> <ul> <li>Review J.D. (first-year and transfer), provide comments, and recommend action </li><li>Conduct applicant interviews and prepare interview reports for applicants' files </li><li>Manage contact and visits from J.D. wait-list candidates, tracking frequency of contacts, level of interest, and application updates, identifying and noting information of potential importance to final decisions on wait list applications </li><li>Counsel wait list applicants on the wait list process, in person, by phone, and in writing. </li><li>Recommend action on wait-list applications </li><li>Conduct interviews of admitted students who applied for Law Scholars Merit Award program. </li></ul> <p>Office Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Compile information for various publications including Princeton Review, Vault and Peterson's Guide </li><li>Collect data from application materials for an annual detailed profile of the entering JD class </li><li>Collaborate as appropriate with Associate Director, Admissions Interview Program, on administration of program utilizing more than 800 VLS alumni volunteers to interview nearly 1,500 law school applicants annually </li></ul> <p>Supervisory Relationships:</p> <p>This position does not have supervisory responsibility and reports administratively and functionally to the Assistant Dean for Admissions.</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <p>A Bachelor's degree is necessary. Master's or J.D. is preferred.</p> <p>A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in admissions, the legal field or relevant industry is necessary.</p> <p>Experience in a higher education setting or admissions/student services environment is preferred.</p>
