<p>Job Description:</p> <p>NORTHWESTERN REGIONAL SCHOOLS</p> <p>Barkhamsted, Colebrook, New Hartford and Norfolk</p> <p>Northwestern Regional High School and Middle School are experiencing a severe shortage of available substitute teachers. In addition to causing concerns about class coverage when teachers are absent due to illness, the lack of substitutes also severely limits off-campus professional development opportunities for teachers and curtails field experiences for students.</p> <p>The purpose of this note is to solicit your interest (or that of a friend or family member) in serving Northwestern as a substitute teacher. Our substitutes are paid a competitive wage - $120.00 per day.</p> <p>Northwestern substitutes are well-supported and always know what is expected of them. In addition, substitutes can often restrict their area of service if there are specific classes or levels that are of concern.</p> <p>Please consider this opportunity to serve your school, work directly with the wonderful young people from our four towns, and become part of a dynamic and productive learning environment. Your participation in this endeavor would be greatly appreciated and valued by all of us.</p> <p>Who qualifies for substitute teaching?</p> <p>A bachelor's degree is normally required for daily substitutes. However, for educators who do not have a bachelor's degree, a district can apply for a waiver using the following steps:</p> <p>The district may submit an online application detailing the applicant's experience with school-age children. Districts will receive an email confirmation with approval of the authorization.</p> <ul> <li>A bachelor's degree is normally required for daily substitutes.
