<p>Job Description:</p> <p>The Special Services Job Coach supports students in developing independence across daily living, academic, workplace-readiness, and community-based skills. In addition to classroom support, the Job Coach will work with students in community settings, including supporting students at job sites, modeling and reinforcing workplace expectations, helping students learn job tasks, assisting with communication or social interactions, and promoting safe, appropriate, and independent work behaviors. This position requires a cooperative working relationship with teachers as well as an employment specialist and focuses on coaching students through routines and experiences that build confidence and independence.</p> <p>This position also includes implementing teacher-prepared instructional or skill-building plans, guiding and supervising teacher-planned activities, assisting in preparing materials for instruction or practice, and documenting individual student progress. If there is a need, the Job Coach may provide personal care and hygiene assistance, and may assist with a student's medication regimen.</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree preferred. </li><li>Candidate should hold an Associate's degree or 2 years of college diploma or its equivalent (i.e. Para Professional Assessment). </li><li>Candidates should demonstrate the ability to develop and maintain a good rapport with students and possess a personable relationship with teachers. </li></ul> <p>Consideration will be given to the following:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to carry out directions in both oral and written form. </li><li>Various life/work experiences that contribute to the candidate's overall preparedness. </li><li>Prior experience working with students with physical disabilities preferred. </li></ul> <p>Reports to: Program Director, FVTA Program</p> <p>Job Goal: To support special education students in the community, on internships and job sites through modeling, training, fading and data collection.</p> <p>Salary: $27.36- $30.56 per hour/ FPSEU contract, dependant upon experience</p> <p>Schedule: 6.5 hours per day, school year</p> <p>Location: Avon, CT</p> <p>Starting Date: Immediately</p> <p>Terms of Employment: 188 day work year (180 student days, 8 holidays) Follows the Simsbury School Calendar. Work Hours: 6.5 hours per day-plus unpaid 30 minute lunch. Salary negotiated between the collective bargaining agreement between the Farmington FPSEU and the Board of Education.</p> <p>Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the Board's policy on evaluation of non-certified Personnel.</p>
