<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Onondaga Community College invites applications for a full-time, one-semester leave replacement position in Physics for the Spring 2026 semester. We seek a dedicated, student-centered educator who can effectively teach introductory physics courses in an open-admissions community college environment.</p> <p>MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <ul> <li> <p>Teach a full-time load (15 credits or equivalent contact hours) during Spring 2026.</p> </li><li> <p>Courses may include:</p> </li><li> <p>Algebra-based Physics I or II (PHY 103/104)</p> </li><li> <p>Calculus-based Engineering Physics I or II (PHY 211/212)</p> </li><li> <p>General education electives (e.g., Astronomy or Physics of Light & Sound), depending on departmental needs</p> </li><li> <p>Hold regular office hours and provide academic support to students.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain accurate records and participate in required departmental meetings.</p> </li><li> <p>Support student learning through inclusive, evidence-based pedagogical practices.</p> </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in Physics, Astronomy, Engineering, or a closely related field. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate physics effectively. </li></ul> <p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS</p> <ul> <li>Teaching experience at the community college level. </li><li>Experience with introductory laboratory instruction. </li><li>Proficiency with learning management systems (e.g., Brightspace). </li><li>Commitment to working with diverse student populations, including first-generation and underprepared students. </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <ul> <li>Salary for Assistant Professor level is $28,969 for the Spring 2026 semester. </li><li>As a Public Employer, we participate in the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program for qualified borrowers. </li></ul> <p>Application Instructions:</p> <ul> <li>To be considered, please submit a resume, cover letter, and unofficial transcripts at time of application. </li><li>The three (3) references listed on the application must be professional references, one must be from a current or former supervisor.
