<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Duties/Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Provide direct instructional services to families with children with hearing loss across Connecticut to help develop spoken language through listening, as a foundation for all developmental skills. </li><li>Troubleshoot and check hearing aids, cochlear implants, and assistive technology routinely to be sure that children have optimal auditory access. </li><li>Maintain on-going written records and data of child's progress. </li><li>Provide information regarding the unique hearing, listening, communication, educational, and self-advocacy needs of children with hearing loss. </li><li>Collaborate with Birth to Three staffs to provide a holistic approach. </li><li>Provide progress updates and home visit notes. </li><li>Attend IFSP transition and PPT meetings to participate in the development of plans. </li><li>Prepare and provide inservices, workshops, and professional learning to daycare staffs and medical providers regarding audiological equipment and best practices for children with hearing loss. </li><li>Comply with all company policies and procedures. </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree (BA) from four-year college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment. </li><li>CT 057 certification as a Teacher of the Deaf (or pending). </li></ul> <p>TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS</p> <p>Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide transportation to job sites, meetings, trainings, and professional learning opportunities as required.</p> <p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:</p> <p>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.</p> <p>Working as an itinerant teacher demands prolonged driving, standing/movement, frequent bending and crouching, lifting and carrying materials, fine motor skills for manipulating small objects, clear speaking voice, good vision and hearing, the ability to focus on multiple tasks simultaneously, and sometimes the need to move quickly to respond to student needs. Successful itinerant teachers require the ability to work in a high energy environment in varying districts, daycare, and community locations such as library. Itinerant teachers of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing can respond to noise levels appropriately to ensure the best listening conditions for the student activity.
