<p>Join Our Team at Northport VA Medical Center</p> <p>The Northport VA Medical Center, located in Northport, New York, is dedicated to delivering comprehensive healthcare services to our nation's Veterans. We are seeking a full-time Physician specializing in Geriatrics and Extended Care with Hospice/Palliative Care certification. In this role, you will provide thorough evaluations, accurate diagnoses, and expert consultations in Hospice and Palliative care.</p> <p>Palliative Care Duties-</p> <p>Duties Include but not limited to the following:</p> <ul> <li>Admission of patients to the Palliative Care Unit (PCU). </li><li>Providing Hospice and Palliative care evaluation, diagnosis and consultation </li><li>Ordering and interpreting tests, prescribing medication, and provision of services to provide palliation therapy </li><li>Managing the appropriate interdisciplinary coordination of the actions of multiple health professionals including physicians, nurses, social workers, dieticians, and rehabilitation specialists in the assessment and implementation of treatment </li><li>Providing consultative services to inpatient clinic (medical/surgical floor, ICU/telemetry and CLC) </li><li>Conducting evaluation, consultation, and provision of hospice and palliative care for patients with life-Threatening or severe, advanced illness. This includes assessment of suffering and quality of life, managing terminal symptoms, patient/family education, and bereavement </li><li>Adding this one- providing consultative services in outpatient setting in palliative care clinic </li></ul> <p>VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package. VHA Physician Total Rewards.</p> <p>This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment.</p> <p>Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases</p> <p>Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)</p> <p>Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA</p> <p>Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)</p> <p>Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory</p> <p>CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification)</p> <p>Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided</p> <p>Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting</p> <p>Work Schedule: Monday- Friday 8 am - 4:30 pm per service needs</p>
