Educates and acts as a consultant to patients/family and members of the health care team related to optimal drug therapy and participates in process improvement activities and drug use evaluations. Works with multiple medication automation systems.</p> <ul> <li>Interprets and screens medication orders for appropriate agent, dose, route, allergies, and potential drug interactions. Safely compounds and dispenses medications for administration to patients. </li><li>Evaluates patients, orders appropriate laboratory tests, and interprets serum drug levels utilizing pharmacokinetic principles; provides prescribers with dosage regimen recommendations to optimize therapeutic outcomes, reduce patient risk, and monitor the costs associated with drug therapy. </li><li>Provides appropriate supervision and direction within appropriate skill level to technicians, residents, interns, and other support personnel. </li><li>Engages in continuous study of the entire professional field to maintain the professional competence, knowledge, and skills necessary for satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.
