<p>GENERAL SUMMARY:</p> <p>Under the supervision of the Campus Safety Director, Campus Safety is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for all students, faculty, staff, and visitors at Glen Oaks Community College. This position performs routine patrols, monitors campus facilities and surveillance systems, responds to incidents and emergencies, assists with campus safety reporting, and provides assistance and information to the campus community.</p> <p>The typical schedule for this position will be Monday - Thursday from 4:00pm to 10:00pm, with some variation to cover campus events as needed.</p> <p>DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>Examples performed by this position include:</p> <ul> <li>Conducts regular patrols of campus buildings, grounds, parking areas, and walking trails by foot or vehicle to ensure safety and security. </li><li>Monitors campus surveillance cameras and alarm systems and responds appropriately to suspicious activity or security alerts. </li><li>Responds to calls for service, requests for assistance, and reports of incidents; coordinates with emergency services when needed. </li><li>Answers phone and radio communications promptly, providing accurate information and dispatching appropriate response. </li><li>Checks and secures doors, windows, gates, and restricted areas; reports maintenance or safety issues promptly. </li><li>Provides escort services for students, employees, and visitors as requested to promote personal safety. </li><li>Identifies and reports irregularities such as safety hazards, facility malfunctions, policy violations, or suspicious behavior. </li><li>Documents incidents accurately and thoroughly in written reports, maintaining confidentiality and professionalism. Assist with campus investigations as necessary. </li><li>Provides general information and assistance to campus community members and visitors in a courteous and professional manner. </li><li>Monitors parking areas, assists with traffic control, and reports vehicle or parking concerns. </li><li>Participates in emergency response efforts, including coordinating with local law enforcement, fire, and medical personnel. </li><li>Conducts periodic inspections of emergency and safety equipment (e.g., AEDs, fire extinguishers, lighting). </li><li>Assists with crowd management and safety during college events, including athletic and special events. </li><li>Maintains all assigned equipment and uniforms in proper working order and appearance. </li><li>Completes all required training and certifications as assigned by the Campus Safety Director. </li><li>Maintains composure and sound judgment during stressful or emergency situations. </li><li>Performs other related duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or GED equivalent. </li><li>At least one (1) year of experience in security, public safety, or a related field. </li><li>Possession of a valid driver's license and the ability to meet College driving standards. </li><li>Strong verbal and written communication skills. </li><li>Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and maintain a calm, professional demeanor under pressure. </li><li>Ability to walk or stand for extended periods and work outdoors in varying weather conditions. </li></ul> <p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Associate degree or higher from an accredited institution. </li><li>Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in security, public safety, or emergency response. </li><li>Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certification. </li><li>Familiarity with security camera systems, incident reporting software, or radio communication systems. </li></ul> <p>To apply: Interested candidates must submit a cover letter, resume, and contact information for three (3) professional references via email to: hr@glenoaks.edu or Attn: Human Resources, 62249 Shimmel Rd, Centreville, MI 49032.</p> <p>Applications will be reviewed beginning on or after January 6, 2025.
