Teacher and Transportation Coordinator</p> <p>Employment Status: 10- month position</p> <p>Performance expectations and responsibilities:</p> <p>It is the expectation and responsibility of ACES Teacher Assistant/Drivers to model the ACES Beliefs.</p> <p>INSTRUCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <p>Instruction</p> <ul> <li>Provides oral and written feedback on classroom activities and lessons </li><li>Assists teacher in maintaining an objective, ongoing assessment of learner progress </li><li>Assists in assessing student progress with behavior management system </li><li>Conducts, under supervision, individual and small group instruction in a variety of settings for assigned students </li><li>Assists in appropriate student communication and social skill development </li><li>Assists in the reinforcement of classroom therapeutic goals when assigned </li><li>Supports instruction with assistive and adaptive instructional technology </li></ul> <p>Knowledge</p> <ul> <li>Is able to support the teacher in large and small group instruction in a variety of settings </li><li>Maintains a current knowledge of each students special circumstances and needs as appropriate to the activity </li><li>Participates in content area training </li><li>Participates in behavior management training for large and small group instruction </li><li>Achieves proficient skill in the use of technology for each student within assigned group </li><li>Charts student progress as required by the teacher </li><li>Keeps current all required forms and documents </li></ul> <p>NON-INSTRUCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <p>Environmental Strategies</p> <ul> <li>Assists in maintaining safety and general welfare of assigned students </li><li>Maintains confidentiality of student performances and records as prescribed by State and Federal law and ACES policies and procedures </li><li>Assists in toileting and bathroom supervision where necessary </li></ul> <p>Communication</p> <ul> <li>Cooperates with all ACES personnel and consultants who provide input or services to students </li><li>Notifies the principal and transportation coordinator of an absence due to illness in a timely manner </li><li>Implements or assists with established behavior management system </li></ul> <p>Team Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Participates in staff meetings as required </li><li>Participates in activities for self-growth, evaluation and on-going professional improvement </li></ul> <p>Transportation Knowledge</p> <ul> <li>Has knowledge of relevant CT laws and regulations </li><li>Is familiar with the transportation and equipment needs of special needs students </li><li>Has knowledge of emergency and accident procedures as referenced in driver handbook </li></ul> <p>Transportation Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Completes all required training courses in a timely manner </li><li>Maintains current license and physical examination requirements </li><li>Demonstrates safe driving practices </li><li>Reports all student behavior problems occurring during transportation to Principal in a timely manner </li><li>Assists parents/guardians and/or staff in loading and unloading of students </li><li>Establishes and maintains a professional, courteous relationship with the student and family members </li><li>Maintains a safe environment for students </li><li>Reports all accidents immediately to the Transportation Department and completes appropriate forms to be submitted to Human Resources office within 24 hours </li><li>Reports all mechanical problems to the Transportation Department in a timely manner </li><li>Maintains security for the radio and assigned credit card or speed pass </li><li>Completes and hands in pre-trip forms daily </li><li>Maintains a clean vehicle interior and exterior </li><li>Assures appropriate equipment remains in the vehicle (snow brush, fire extinguisher, first aid kit) </li><li>Maintains appropriate radio transmissions and communications </li><li>Maintains the established behavior management system while transporting students </li><li>Adheres to practices/policies as outlined by the Transportation Coordinator </li><li>Refrain from use of cell phones, except in case of emergencies when radios are not working </li></ul> <p>The successful candidate will have occasional assignments at ACES @ Ansonia Middle School.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <p>High school diploma required, college degree preferred</p> <p>Experience working with students/special needs students desirable</p> <p>Required CT
