<p>Incumbent serves as a work leader in the Maintenance and Repair (M&R) shop of Facility Management Service (FMS) at the two (2) division Veterans Affairs Medical Center and assigned to either the Bowling or Sousley Campus. The incumbent is assigned to one division but may be periodically assigned to the other campus to help gain experience working with various services and systems and to foster teamwork between the two (2) campuses, should the need arise.</p> <p>The incumbent selects materials and tools, maintains inventory of supplies, determines techniques and tools required, and coordinates with other services and individuals to ensure patient access to care is uninterrupted. Incumbent is responsible for the following duties:</p> <ul> <li>Issues work assigned through oral or written instruction, current job analysis and standard operating procedures. </li><li>Coordinates work with other shops relating to systems or equipment with co-responsibilities. </li><li>Reviews production and service to assure that level of work is being achieved, standards are being met and initiates corrective actions when needed. </li><li>Communicates effectively both orally and in writing. </li><li>Provides on-the-job training and participates in formal training programs for employees both providing oral instruction and physical hands-on instruction. </li><li>Advises the supervisor on matters pertaining to the smooth operation of maintenance and repair projects. </li><li>Oversees and evaluates coworker's work performance to ensure supervisor's directions are followed, work is completed safely by the set deadline, and relays information back to the direct supervisor. </li><li>Provides recommendations for performance awards, may assist employee with personal problems and/or employee promotions, reassignment, etc. </li><li>Evaluates operations and recommends means of improving the efficiency of the shop in manpower utilization and work procedures. </li><li>Expedites a preventive maintenance program to complete scheduled PMI and PM activities. </li><li>Initiates work orders for maintenance and repair work to prevent service outages and equipment down time therefore minimizing callbacks and overtime. </li><li>Prepares daily, weekly, and monthly expenditure report of all materials and parts purchased for the shop and submit via e-mail to the direct supervisor. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Work Schedule: Monday through Friday: 8:00am-4:30pm</p> <p>Position Description Title/PD#: Maintenance Mechanic Leader/PD30559-A</p> <p>Relocation/Recruitment Incentives: Not authorized</p>
