This role involves coordinating with various stakeholders, implementing marketing campaigns, and analyzing the effectiveness of marketing efforts to drive visitor engagement and economic growth. The ideal candidate will possess:</p> <ul> <li>Proven experience in marketing, advertising, or destination marketing, with a focus on event management, community outreach, and stakeholder engagement. </li><li>Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage budgets, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. </li><li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders. </li><li>Proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms, including social media management, email marketing, and website analytics. </li><li>An analytical mindset, with the ability to interpret data, generate insights, and make strategic recommendations to drive business results. </li><li>Creativity, innovation, and a passion for promoting Golden as a dynamic and welcoming place to live and visit. </li></ul> <p>JOB SUMMARY</p> <p>Marketing Strategy & Program Management (35%)</p> <ul> <li>Administer the Community Marketing Program, designed to promote Golden as a desirable destination for tourists, residents, and businesses. </li><li>Oversee and manage the Golden Community Marketing Fund (budget of approx. $600k), ensuring strategic allocation of resources to support marketing goals. </li><li>Develop, execute, and evaluate marketing campaigns, leveraging digital, print, social media, and outdoor advertising. </li><li>Collaborate with local businesses, attractions, hotels, and event organizers to enhance the city's promotional efforts. </li><li>Act as the primary liaison to Golden's Community Marketing Board, directing overall program strategy. </li></ul> <p>Content & Media Management (25%)</p> <ul> <li>Oversee all aspects of digital advertising, including social media campaigns, daily digital content, advertising placements, campaign design, and website updates within budget authority in conjunction with consultants and the City's Communications Department. </li><li>Coordinate the design and production of print marketing materials, including brochures, flyers, ads, and promotional merchandise. </li><li>Maintain and manage photo library and creative assets, assisting in minor design tasks for marketing collateral. </li><li>Cultivate relationships with media, bloggers, and influencers to secure coverage and positive publicity. </li></ul> <p>Community Engagement & Event Marketing (15%)</p> <ul> <li>Organize and participate in community events, trade shows, and promotional activities to enhance awareness and engagement. </li><li>Represent the City at external marketing events, media functions, and tourism/marketing groups to share ideas and co-promote initiatives. </li><li>Supervise and coordinate the seasonal Golden Greeter program, including training and scheduling staff to enhance visitor experiences. </li></ul> <p>Performance Analysis & Market Research (15%)</p> <ul> <li>Conduct market research and trend analyses to inform marketing strategies and identify new opportunities. </li><li>Stay updated on industry best practices, marketing trends, and innovations. </li><li>Monitor and track key marketing metrics, such as website traffic, social media engagement, and sales tax growth by business type. </li><li>Use data insights to optimize campaign performance and report on the effectiveness of marketing initiatives. </li></ul> <p>Additional Responsibilities (10%)</p> <ul> <li>Work collaboratively with internal departments, tourism boards, economic development agencies, and other partners to align marketing efforts. </li><li>Support public relations strategies and assist in media interviews as needed. </li><li>Must be available for some weekend work (Friday-Sunday) to attend Golden events and programs. </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <p>Directly supervises 3-5 part-time and seasonal employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performances; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, Economic Development, Business Administration, or related field required. MBA preferred. Minimum five years' experience, seven years' preferred, in marketing, public relations, advertising, or tourism marketing, including a minimum of three years' experience in a supervisory role. In-depth knowledge of business and marketing principles and strategies. Strong marketing and public relations skills. Working knowledge of web administration and social media applications. Experience with field marketing, community engagement, or event marketing, preferably in a regional or multi-market capacity, and proven track record of planning and executing successful local marketing campaigns.</p> <p>CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS</p> <p>Valid driver's license with good driving record.</p> <p>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES</p> <p>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate and interact with all levels of personnel within the City, external clients, business prospects, partner organizations, and the general public in a positive and cooperative manner. Must be able to read, comprehend, and interpret market data and relevant programs. Ability to respond to customer concerns promptly and effectively.</p> <p>MATHEMATICAL SKILLS</p> <p>Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measurement, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.</p> <p>REASONING ABILITY</p> <p>Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.</p> <p>OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES</p> <p>This role is fast-paced, creative, and public-facing, ideal for someone who thrives on strategic thinking, storytelling, and building connections in the community.</p> <p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS</p> <p>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.</p> <p>The position requires regular use of a computer, phone, and other standard office equipment, as well as the ability to transport marketing materials to and from event sites. Attendance at both indoor and outdoor events is expected in a variety of weather conditions.
