<p>Job Description:</p> <p>POSITION SUMMARY: The Quincy College Learning Innovation Hub seeks an Instructional Designer (ID) to support faculty through consultation, course design, and professional development that integrates pedagogically sound instructional technologies. Reporting to the AVP of Online Learning, the ID serves as a collaborative partner and problem-solver, working with the Hub team, deans, and faculty to design high-quality, inclusive, and engaging learning experiences across all modalities. The ID applies the Hub's curriculum framework, grounded in Universal Design for Learning, backward design, and inclusive practices, to ensure courses are aligned, accessible, and student-centered. This role requires a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset, with the ability to manage multiple projects, adapt to evolving needs, and support colleagues in moving course design and development work from concept to completion.</p> <p>Required Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:</p> <ul> <li>Experience in curriculum and instructional design, with an emphasis on Universal Design for Learning (UDL), backward design, and authentic assessment. </li><li>Experience collaborating with deans and faculty, individually and in groups, to design courses that integrate emerging technologies and evidence-based pedagogies to enhance student engagement. </li><li>Experience evaluating and ensuring the quality, accuracy, and effectiveness of courses in the content of Quality Matters (QM), National Standards for Quality Online Teaching (NSOT), and institutional processes. </li><li>Experience leveraging open educational resources (OER) to support cost-effective, high-quality, and engaging learning experiences. </li><li>Experience using emerging instructional technologies, including generative AI, in course design, with a focus on user experience (UX) and attention to ethical use, bias, academic integrity, data privacy, and pedagogical alignment. </li><li>Experience applying ADA Title II and WCAG 2.2 accessibility standards, along with copyright and fair use principles, in the design and evaluation of accessible course materials. </li><li>Experience managing multiple concurrent projects, ensuring timelines are met across all phases of course design and development. </li><li>Experience leading clear, consistent communication and collaboration with deans, faculty, and institutional stakeholders. </li></ul> <p>EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE: Master's Degree in Instructional Design, Education, or closely related field; with a minimum of three (3) years' experience that includes an equivalent combination of instructional design training, the use of emerging technologies in education and work experience. College teaching experience preferred.</p> <p>TRAVEL: Occasional local travel to Plymouth campus and Boston educational site required.</p> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Collaborates with deans and faculty subject matter experts to design and develop courses across modalities, integrating instructional technologies to create relevant, inclusive, and engaging learning experiences for all students.</p> </li><li> <p>Partners with faculty to align course learning outcomes, assessments, instructional materials, and teaching practices using backward design and inclusive design principles (UDL and validation-focused approaches).</p> </li><li> <p>Supports the development, build, publication, maintenance, and archiving of courses in Canvas, ensuring consistency with institutional templates, quality standards, and accessibility requirements.</p> </li><li> <p>Contributes to the design and facilitation of professional development focused on instructional technologies, course design, and evidence-based teaching practices.</p> </li><li> <p>Stays current with emerging trends in instructional design and educational technology, collaborating with the AVP of Online Learning to pilot and implement new tools, technologies, and processes.</p> </li><li> <p>Manages multiple concurrent course design and development projects, ensuring alignment, quality, and timely completion across all phases.</p> </li><li> <p>Facilitates clear, consistent communication and collaboration with deans, faculty, and institutional stakeholders throughout the course design and development process.</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in mandatory training/coursework.
