<p>Overview</p> <p>The successful candidate must provide technical assistance and overall direction to a team of hourly representative employees. Core to this position is the successful performance of the team's safety, quality, cost, schedule and continuous improvement.</p> <p>Effective communication, leadership, creating a positive team environment with employees and peers is key to success for the selected candidate. This position of Operations Supervisor provides a platform to gain a working knowledge of various manufacturing environments and their relationships with other parts of Electric Boat business. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer or experienced trades-person to advance into a career-building leadership position and gain invaluable experience to support their career development.</p> <p>Roles and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Lead the activities of approximately 15 piping trades employees in the performance of preparing, assembling and installing equipment on-board submarines </li><li>Primary point of contact to interface with engineering, ship's management, quality and other trade departments </li><li>Lead the team to achievement of company goals for safety, quality, cost, schedule and continuous improvement </li><li>Take ownership of team performance </li><li>This is a 3rd shift position </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Required:</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma or GED </li></ul> <p>Must meet one of the following:</p> <ul> <li>Minimum 1 year trade experience at electric boat </li><li>Minimum of 3 year combined relevant experience and leadership experience in a high-volume setting </li><li>Minimum of 1 year EB experience and an Engineering degree in a related field </li></ul> <p>Preferred:</p> <ul> <li>College/technical school AS/BS degree </li><li>Minimum of 3 years pipe-fitting experience </li><li>3 years of shipyard experience </li><li>Previous supervisory experience </li><li>Previous related Military/Navy experience </li><li>Nuclear qualifications </li><li>Knowledge of 688, VIRGINIA, and COLUMBIA class submarines </li><li>Radcon qualifications </li></ul> <p>Skills</p> <ul> <li>Have the ability to read and interpret blueprints, procedures, and related reference documents </li><li>Have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with subordinates and supervisors </li><li>Must be able to work all assigned shifts </li><li>Must be able to work extended hours </li><li>Must be able to go on road assignments as business needs dictate </li><li>Applicant must obtain and maintain a DOD security clearance as a condition of employment </li><li>Capable of reading, interpreting and putting into effect plans, procedures and instructions </li><li>Good presentation skills and attention to detail preferred </li><li>Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Power Point preferred </li></ul> <p>Physical Qualifications</p> <p>Climbing, Color Vision, Crawling, Heavy Lifting, Kneeling, Light Lifting, Medium Lifting, Pulling, Pushing, Reaching, Stooping, Twisting</p> <p>Environmental Attributes</p> <p>Acids or Alkalis, Cold, Dry, Dusty, Fumes, Hot, Inside, Noise, Oily, Outside, Wet</p>
