<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Waterford Public Schools has a vacancy for a team-oriented individual. Waterford Public Schools is seeking a Head Girls Basketball Coach at Waterford High School effective for the Fall of the 2025/2026 school year. The ideal candidate will be committed to building a strong team culture, developing student-athletes both on and off the court, and implementing effective basketball skills and strategies.</p> <p>Waterford Public Schools serves approximately 2,400 students in grades PK-12. The Waterford Board of Education is a nine-member elected body.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Develop and promote a positive team culture centered on sportsmanship, teamwork, and accountability. </li><li>Design and execute effective practice plans focusing on skill development, conditioning, and team strategy. </li><li>Implement basketball schemes that maximize team performance and align with modern coaching strategies. </li><li>Provide individualized instruction to enhance player development in fundamental and advanced skills. </li><li>Foster relationships with student-athletes, parents, school administration, and the broader community. </li><li>Oversee assistant coaches and ensure alignment with program philosophy. </li><li>Ensure compliance with CIAC and school athletic department policies. </li><li>Promote academic success and personal growth for student-athletes. </li><li>Actively recruit and develop players within the school and community to sustain a competitive program. </li></ul> <p>EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>CT Coaching Certification Required.</p> <ul> <li>Prior coaching experience at the high school, AAU, or collegiate level preferred. </li><li>Strong understanding of basketball fundamentals, offensive and defensive strategies, and game management. </li><li>Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes. </li><li>Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. </li><li>Commitment to player development, both athletically and personally. </li><li>CPR/First Aid certification </li><li>Knowledge of CIAC rules and regulations. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Experience coaching or playing at the collegiate level. </li><li>Proven track record of program development and success. </li></ul> <p>Stipend per WFCT agreement . https://waterford.ss16.sharpschool.com/our_district/departments/hr/contracts/waterford_federation_of_classroom_teachers</p> <p>This vacancy is posted as open until filled.</p>
