<p>For full job classification details of the Recreation Program Aide and Instructor I positions, click here: Recreation Program Aide ; Recreation Instructor I</p> <p>Examples of Essential Work</p> <p>Instructor I</p> <ul> <li>Plans, organizes, and instructs assigned recreational programs for participants of all ages, including creating lesson plans, preparing materials, maintaining attendance records, and communicating with participants, parents, and the public; </li></ul> <p>Instructor I & Recreation Aide</p> <ul> <li>Prepares, monitors, and maintains facilities for recreational programs, including setting up and cleaning the facility, ensuring facility and equipment is left in a clean and orderly fashion, enforcing rules and regulations to promote safe activity, and ensuring facility is secured and ready for use upon leaving; </li><li>Keeps immediate supervisor and designated others accurately informed concerning work progress, including present and potential work problems and suggestions for new or improved ways of addressing such problems; </li></ul> <p>Sanitize all play equipment.</p> <ul> <li>Responds to and provides emergency care and treatment as needed within the guidelines of their training. </li><li>Prepares and submits accident/incident reports. </li><li>Interact and communicate effectively with participants, parents and/or guardians and the public. </li><li>Creating an engaging and entertaining atmosphere for participants. </li><li>Assisting with parent and family interactions. </li><li>Prioritizing safety at all times. </li></ul> <p>Acceptable Experience and Training</p> <ul> <li>Some High School; and </li><li>Some experience in recreation, sports, and arts and crafts; or </li><li>Any combination of experience and training which provides the equivalent scope of knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work. </li></ul> <p>Additional Information</p> <p>Bilingual Incentive Pay Available</p> <p>Employees who can demonstrate the ability to speak Spanish, American Sign Language, or another language spoken by more than 10% of City residents as identified by the most recent U.S. Census, may qualify for a monthly bilingual premium equal to 3% of their regular base pay, subject to successful completion of a City-administered fluency assessment.</p> <p>Commitment to Equity</p> <p>Hiring a workforce that reflects the diverse community we serve is essential to delivering exceptional City services and programs. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.</p> <p>Based on area of assignment, this position may require sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, with or without reasonable accommodation, which enables the employee to efficiently function in an indoor and outdoor environment, including in varying weather conditions.</p> <p>Incumbents may be subjected to travel.</p>
