Orange County Government is committed to providing equal opportunity in employment and services to all individuals.</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>General Functions</p> <p>Orange County Convention Center's (OCCC) primary contact for social media management and public relations efforts, and coordinates with key departments, partners, stakeholders and clients, as well as others in Public Information roles throughout the County. Works closely with the OCCC leadership team on requests for interviews and the release of information. Proactively anticipates and responds to issues and is responsible for the coordination/dissemination of information via social media and traditional media outlets.</p> <p>Work is performed with independence under the direction of the Communications Section Manager and is reviewed on a regular basis through observation and achievement of desired results.</p> <p>Representative Duties/Assignments</p> <ul> <li>Generates proactive media and social coverage for the department. </li><li>Provides information to media outlets by generating news releases and coordinating media interviews. Serves as a proactive media liaison between the Department, and the public and news media. </li><li>Establishes and maintains relationships with representatives from the community, Department management, employees, media and public interest groups. </li><li>Provides oversight and appropriate responses for all internal and external communication efforts; prepares and distributes a variety of internal publications, notices and newsletters. </li><li>Assists with editorial planning and engages in research, writing and other activities to provide analysis, recommendations and strategies on communication issues affecting the organization. </li><li>Monitors media reports and editorials pertaining to the Orange County Convention Center for accuracy and disseminates information to Senior Management. </li><li>Assists with ensuring the content for the newsroom and OCCC website is up to date and accurate. </li><li>Manage OCCC's social media presence and assists with capturing content for marketing collateral and special events, as needed. </li><li>Performs other related duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism or Public Relations and three (3) years of media relations, communications, public relations, or community outreach experience to include one year of project management experience or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.</p> <p>Preferences</p> <ul> <li>Bilingual in Spanish. </li><li>Experience conducting on-camera television interviews. </li><li>Experience in tourism/hospitality. </li><li>Ability to work early mornings, nights and weekends when necessary. </li><li>Working knowledge of AP Style writing, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, Sprout Social, and social media platforms </li></ul> <p>Application Deadline</p> <p>Open Date: 04/29/2025</p> <p>Close Date: 05/19/2025</p> <p>This posting is subject to close without prior notice.</p> <p>Salary Information</p> <p>Pay Grade: 018 - From $30.39 to $39.51</p> <p>FLSA Status: Exempt</p> <p>Placement based on Education and Experience</p> <p>Benefits</p> <ul> <li>10 paid holidays andup to 2 floating holidays annually. </li><li>18 days paid time off per year. </li><li>Longevity bonus based on years of service. </li><li>6 days of paid TERM (sick) time annually. </li><li>Low-cost medical, dental, vision, additional life insurance. </li><li>Free basic life, long term disability, and employee assistance for all the family members effective on day one. </li><li>Participation in the Florida Retirement System. </li><li>Employee assistance program includes multiple free one on one sessions with licensed counselors and online tools for legal advice, financial planning, personal life balance, etc. </li><li>Free access to Wellworks gyms and OrangeCounty Recreation Centers. </li><li>Free onsite wellness coaching, including dietician and nurse. </li><li>Tuition reimbursement program. </li><li>Earn service time to forgive student loans. </li></ul> <p>Disclaimer: Benefits mayvary for employees under collective bargaining agreements.</p> <p>For more information on Benefits visit - https://www.ocfl.net/EmploymentVolunteerism/EmployeeBenefits.aspx</p> <p>Veterans Preference</p> <p>If you are claiming Veterans' Preference, you are responsible for providing the required eligibility documentation by the closing date of the posting.
