<p>Job Description:</p> <p>General Statement of Duties: Part-time, adjunct professor to teach Anatomy and Physiology for non-majors. This course is intended for students in Nursing, Exercise and Sports Sciences, and Environmental and Public Health.</p> <p>Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Anatomy and Physiology I (BIOL 1200) explores the structure and function of the human organism on the cellular, tissue, organ, and system levels. Cellular metabolism, histology, and the following systems: skeletal, muscular, and nervous (including the special senses) are examined. The lab portion covers basic lab safety (including dissection and chemical safety), the language of anatomy, histology, the skeletal system, the muscular system, and the nervous system (which may include brain and eye dissections). </li><li>Anatomy and Physiology II (BIOL 1300) is a continuation of BIOL 1200. The following systems are covered: endocrine, circulatory, respiratory, digestive, excretory, and reproductive. The lab portion covers most of these topics and involves some "wet labs" (digestion and urinary systems) and may include some dissections (heart, kidney, and others). </li><li>Both courses require the set up and take down of lab exams ("practicals") as well as grading of assigned lab activities (as determined by the instructor and in collaboration with other faculty teaching Anatomy and Physiology). </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Requires Masters degree in Biology or a similar field with an expertise in anatomy and/or physiology. </li><li>Teaching experience at the university/college level in Anatomy and Physiology. </li><li>Ability to teach freshman level courses. </li><li>Ability to integrate appropriate technology and software in teaching. </li><li>Ability to work effectively on a team consisting of other professors teaching Anatomy and Physiology </li><li>Ability to work effectively with a diverse student body. </li><li>Ability to perform all duties with or without reasonable accommodations. </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>Fitchburg State University has created an "Open Pool" vacancy announcement for part time day and evening adjunct faculty by discipline. The faculty chair and the divisional dean/associate vice president will review applications submitted when there is a specific need for part time adjunct to fill a course scheduled in the academic year for both the day and/or evening classes.</p> <p>The application process will require that applicants designate their preference for teaching in the day, evening or both. Please attach a letter of interest and resume when applying for any part time teaching position.</p> <p>Applications submitted will be maintained from July 1st through June 30th for each academic year. At the conclusion of the academic year the pool will be refreshed and applicants will be required to reapply. Applications selected to be maintained in the pool will remain active for a three year period.</p> <p>Fitchburg State University is an equal opportunity employer.</p> <p>Application Instructions:</p> <p>Candidates selected to teach for the university are required to complete a CORI and the Student Clearinghouse Authorization form prior to hire. This will be sent out via an email welcome along with other pertinent preliminary information. The form provides authorization to the university to qualify degrees held through the National Student Clearinghouse.</p> <p>If selected to teach, three (3) letters of recommendation will also be required.</p>
