<p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>MA Certification as Assistant Principal </li><li>Previous supervisory and teaching experience required </li><li>Master's Degree in Education preferred </li></ul> <p>Reporting Relationships:The Asst. Principal is directly responsible to the School Principal. Administration is leadership, service, and coordination to the end that Franklin's children shall have the best education possible within the school environment. General Responsibilities:Works to provide and maintain effective communication, the promotion of staff and pupil participation, the provisions for logistical planning, and the promotion of staff and pupil morale.</p> <p>Performance Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Assists in planning, organizing, and directing the implementation of all school activities </li><li>As required, prepares various statistical and other reports relating to such matters as attendance, enrollment figures, and special reports required by the School Administration </li><li>Keeps supervisor informed of events and activities of an unusual nature as well as routine matters related to the supervisor's accountability </li><li>Maintains active relationships with students and parents </li><li>Assists with scheduling classes within established guidelines to meet student needs </li><li>Assists in the development, revision, and evaluation of the curriculum </li><li>Establishes guides for proper student conduct and maintaining student discipline </li><li>Maintains high standards of student conduct and enforces discipline as necessary, according to due process rights of students </li><li>Attends special events held to recognize student achievement, and attends school-sponsored activities, functions, and athletic events, as requested </li><li>Maintains and controls the various funds generated by student activities </li><li>Supervises the maintenance of accurate records on the progress and attendance of students </li><li>Assumes responsibility for his or her own professional growth and development through membership and participation in the affairs of professional organizations; attendance at regional, state, and national meetings; and enrollment in advanced courses </li><li>Keeps abreast of changes and developments in the profession by attending professional meetings, reading professional journals and other publications, and discussing problems of mutual interest with others in the field </li><li>Encourages professional study by members of the staff </li><li>Assists in the recruiting, screening, hiring, training, assigning, and evaluating of the school's professional staff </li><li>Orients newly assigned staff members and assists in their development, as appropriate </li><li>Assists in the in-service orientation and training of teachers, with special responsibility for staff administrative procedures and instructions </li><li>Visits classrooms, observes and evaluates and counsels all staff members regarding their individual and group performance </li><li>Acts as consultant, resource, and/or mentor to faculty in areas of responsibility </li><li>Makes arrangements for special conferences between parents and teachers </li><li>Assumes responsibility for the safety and administration of the school plant </li><li>Supervises fire drills, drills, and an emergency preparedness program </li><li>Asserts leadership in times of civil disobedience in school in accordance with established Board policy </li><li>Provides for adequate inventories of school property and for the security and accountability for that property </li><li>Serve as an ex officio member of all committees and councils within the school </li><li>Serves as a member of such committees and attends such meetings as directed by the principal </li><li>Other related duties as assigned by the Principal or his/her designee </li></ul> <p>Terms of Employment:Full year position.
