<p>Under the direction of the Director, Intergovernmental Affairs (IGA), the Deputy Director, IGA will:</p> <ul> <li>Supervise IGA liaisons in their assigned borough(s). </li><li>Manage, prioritize, and troubleshoot issues and concerns as they arise from community members, elected officials, and community boards. </li><li>Attend community board and civic association meetings and visit locations that are the subject of community interest. </li><li>Prepare weekly and quarterly reports on the unit's activities. </li><li>Prepare for annual Borough Consultations with relevant community boards. </li><li>Assist in the resolution of community and elected official concerns and inquiries regarding compliance with the New York City Construction Codes and Zoning Resolution. </li><li>Brief the Director on hot topic enforcement and development matters relevant to their assigned borough(s). </li><li>Engage internally across Departmental units to coordinate follow-up items from community meetings. </li><li>Work with Communications staff to maximize impact of outreach campaigns. </li><li>Engage directly with homeowners, construction workers, contractors, and other stakeholders to promote the work of the Department, including conducting outreach in the field. </li><li>Coordinate distribution of neighborhood specific materials to better inform the public about certain construction work occurring in their community. </li><li>Actively identify the needs of non-technical stakeholders concerning new laws, rules, and policies that may affect them. </li><li>Prepare correspondence to elected officials, community boards and other interested parties concerning matters under the Department's jurisdiction. </li><li>Assist with other tasks and special projects at the direction of the Director and Communications & IGA leadership. </li></ul> <p>CIVIL SERVICE STATUS</p> <p>Only permanent Administrative Community Relations Specialists, applicants who are reachable on the Administrative Community Relations Specialist open competitive list, and applicants as indicated below will be considered.</p> <p>Candidates who are permanent in comparable civil service titles may be considered for title change under rule 6.1.9 of the Personnel Rules and Regulations of the City of New York.</p> <p>REMOTE WORK</p> <p>This position may be eligible for remote work up to 2 days per week, pursuant to the Remote Work Pilot Program.</p> <p>To APPLY:</p> <p>Visit Jobs NYC (cityjobs.nyc.gov) to view and apply for available positions. S. Secretary of Education and by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and four years of satisfactory, full-time community liaison, community organization or community relations experience, at least two years of which must have been in a broad administrative or policy-making capacity with responsibility for planning, organizing, coordinating, developing, evaluating and/or administering a large community service program or activity; or</p> </li><li> <p>A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization and eight years of satisfactory, full-time experience as described in "1" above, at least two years of which must have been in a broad administrative or policy-making capacity with responsibilities as described in "1" above; or</p> </li><li> <p>Education and/or experience equivalent to "1" or "2" above. Undergraduate education above the high school level may be substituted for the community liaison, community organization or community relations experience, but not for the two years of broad administrative or policy-making experience described in "1" above, at the rate of 30 semester credits from an accredited college or university (as described above) for each year of experience, up to a maximum of 4 years. Graduate education beyond the baccalaureate degree may be substituted for the community liaison, community organization or community relations experience, but not for the two years of broad administrative or policy-making experience described in "1" above, on the basis of 30 graduate credits from an accredited college or university (as described above) for each year of experience, up to a maximum of 2 years. However, all candidates must possess a four-year high school diploma or its educational</p> </li></ol> <p>equivalent approved by a State's Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization and two years of full-time experience in a broad administrative or policy-making capacity with responsibilities as described in "1" above.</p> <p>Preferred Skills</p> <ul> <li>A valid driver's license. - Excellent organization, communication (written and verbal), and conflict resolution skills. - Ability to work independently and manage multiple short-term projects with competing timelines. - Familiarity working with the offices of elected officials, community boards and civic associations within New York City. - Familiarity with the Building Code and Zoning Resolution. - Extensive knowledge of Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. </li></ul> <p>55a Program</p> <p>This position is also open to qualified persons with a disability who are eligible for the 55-a Program.
