<p>Job Description:</p> <p>JOB TITLE: SCHOOL SECRETARY</p> <p>JOB PURPOSE: To provide general clerical and secretarial support for the efficient and effective operation of the school building.</p> <p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>High School diploma </li><li>Post secondary training/education in related area and/or one year secretarial experience </li><li>Demonstrated skills in interpersonal relations, word-processing, and other computer capabilities; excellent typing and other secretarial skills </li><li>Such additions and alternatives to above qualifications as may be appropriate and acceptable </li></ul> <p>REPORTS TO: Building Administrators</p> <p>ACCOUNTABILITY:</p> <p>Responsible for quality and quantity of own work as assigned by building administrator.</p> <p>PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Welcome visitors, volunteers, and parents. </li><li>Answer phones, screen calls, take messages, forward calls as appropriate. Record and relay student information as necessary. Assure messages are relayed to appropriate parties in a timely fashion. </li><li>Record and monitor staff attendance information for payroll summary report; prepare payroll summary report every other week. Maintain any teacher attendance records as required by building practice and/or procedure. </li><li>Oversee substitutes and their assignments; assist staff in securing subs when necessary; coordinate provision of teacher coverage when needed. </li><li>Provide registration information to all new families for registration of students; verify residency and health records, secure academic records from previous schools. Update student data base and communicate enrollment information to appropriate parties. </li><li>Coordinate collection of special event or field trip funds and payment for buses, admission fees, etc. Maintain records of all funds and deposit in school bank account. </li><li>Maintain school checkbook and account; balance bank statement monthly. </li><li>Coordinate and maintain all student records and registration in after school activities and clubs. </li><li>Prepare correspondence, evaluations, memos, staff correspondence, and informational materials; perform filing tasks of various kinds for administrator/supervisor. </li><li>Maintain appointment schedule for administrator(s) as directed.
