<p>Job Description</p> <p>Position Summary:</p> <p>The Fleet Safety Manager within the Advance Auto Parts Asset Protection & Environmental Health & Safety (AP & EHS) team is responsible for developing and executing proactive fleet safety programs across distribution centers, retail locations, and corporate environments. This role focuses on minimizing risk, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering a culture of safety among team members, drivers, and stakeholders. Reporting to the Director of AP/EHS, the Fleet Safety Manager collaborates with internal departments and external vendors and may lead a team of direct reports.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Program Development & Execution</p> </li><li> <p>Design and implement enterprise-wide fleet safety strategies and standard operating procedures.</p> </li><li> <p>Lead initiatives to reduce fleet-related incidents and ensure compliance with DOT, MVR, and state/local regulations.</p> </li><li> <p>Serve as the subject matter expert for fleet safety, advising operations teams and deploying safety programs.</p> </li><li> <p>Compliance & Training</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinate regulatory compliance activities and develop training materials for fleet safety and hazardous materials handling.</p> </li><li> <p>Support hazardous materials management in partnership with the compliance team.</p> </li><li> <p>Stakeholder Engagement</p> </li><li> <p>Build and maintain relationships with internal partners including supply chain, legal, transportation, asset protection, risk management, and operations, and IT</p> </li><li> <p>Develop and promote driver recognition programs and safety awareness campaigns.</p> </li><li> <p>Auditing & Continuous Improvement</p> </li><li> <p>Conduct audits to ensure adherence to company standards and regulatory requirements.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate with internal teams and third-party providers to identify and implement improvements.</p> </li><li> <p>Cross-Functional Collaboration</p> </li><li> <p>Partner with AP/EHS leadership on initiatives that impact team member, operational, and customer safety.</p> </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Proven experience managing multi-state fleet safety programs. </li><li>In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and provincial fleet safety regulations. </li><li>Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and identify trends. </li><li>Excellent communication, presentation, and training skills. </li><li>Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. </li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. </li><li>Experience in retail or distribution center environments preferred. </li></ul> <p>Education & Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Fleet Safety, or a related field. </li><li>3-5 years of professional experience in fleet safety or EHS roles. </li><li>Prior experience in retail or distribution center operations is strongly preferred. </li></ul> <p>Supervisory Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>May include direct reports; leadership and coaching skills are essential. </li></ul> <p>Certifications:</p> <ul> <li>Professional certifications in fleet safety or EHS are a plus. </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands:</p> <ul> <li>Regularly required to sit, talk, and hear. </li><li>Occasionally required to stand, walk, handle objects, reach, stoop, kneel, or crawl. </li><li>Must be able to lift/move up to 10 lbs regularly and up to 25 lbs occasionally. </li><li>Visual acuity required for close and distance vision, color perception, and focus adjustment. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment:</p> <ul> <li>Moderate noise level typical of office and operational settings. </li><li>Up to 50% travel required. </li></ul> <p>California Residents click below for Privacy Notice:</p> <p>https://jobs.advanceautoparts.com/us/en/disclosures</p>
