<p>Position: Head High School Boys Cross Country Coach</p> <p>Reports to: Athletic Manager or Designee and Building Principal or Designee</p> <p>Employment Status: Extra Duty Supplemental Position (scale 05)</p> <p>FLSA Status: Exempt</p> <p>Payment: Stipend will be paid in accordance with established Ohio High School Association</p> <p>calendars</p> <p>NOTE: The below lists are not ranked in order of importance</p> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Lead the High School Boys Cross Country program in total; game contests, scrimmages, practices (when applicable) </li><li>Assists in administering the High School Cross Country program in an efficient and professional manner </li><li>Collaborate with community partners in the development of a comprehensive K-12 youth program </li><li>Monitors and supports academic needs of individual students </li><li>Clearly communicate with coaches/families regarding practice times, site, etc. </li><li>Communicate with parents as necessary regarding athletics and athletic issues </li><li>Ensure beginning of season meeting is scheduled with parents </li><li>Provide necessary paperwork for student athletes (physicals, concussion, emergency medical, travel releases, etc.) and ensure that all forms are collected and maintained appropriately </li><li>Communicate with administration any issues with coaches and student athletes that should come to their attention </li><li>Ensure that OHSAA rules and guidelines are followed; Ensure all student athletes are eligible per OHSAA guidelines </li><li>Ensure safety of students </li><li>Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required </li><li>Provide guidance and counsel to the students which will promote their welfare and their proper educational development </li><li>Maintain and improve professional competence </li><li>Observe ethics of the coaching profession; exhibit professional behavior, emotional stability and sound judgment </li><li>Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities </li><li>Make contacts with the public with tact and diplomacy </li><li>Maintain respect at all times for confidential information, e.g., student grades </li><li>Interact in a positive manner with staff, students and parents </li><li>Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude and conversation </li></ul> <p>Other Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Serve as a role model for students </li><li>Respond to routine questions and requests in an appropriate manner </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Manager and Building Principal </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Have previous knowledge in the field of cross country athletics </li><li>Is knowledgeable of OHSAA and CCSD guidelines and regulations </li><li>Is knowledgeable in game administration, scheduling, securing officials, etc. </li><li>Able to work flexible hours, evenings and weekends </li><li>Able to work with administrators, coaches, officials, parents and student athletes in a positive manner </li><li>State of Ohio Pupil Activity Permit </li><li>Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Board of Education may find appropriate </li></ul> <p>Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to work effectively with others </li><li>Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing </li><li>Effective, active listening skills </li><li>Organizational and problem solving skills </li><li>Knowledge of child development and an understanding of age appropriate tasks </li><li>Ability to work in a team environment </li></ul> <p>Equipment Operated:</p> <ul> <li>Athletic Equipment </li><li>Technology appropriate for assignment </li></ul> <p>Additional Working Conditions:</p> <ul> <li>Occasional requirement to travel daily and overnight </li><li>Occasional interaction among unruly children </li><li>Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue </li><li>Frequent requirement to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, see, read, speak, reach, stretch with hands and arms, crouch, kneel, climb, and stoop </li><li>Frequent operation of a vehicle in inclement weather conditions, i.e., being prepared to come to work on all scheduled work days, except calamity days </li><li>Frequent weekend/evening/summer work </li><li>Requirement to lift and/or carry up to a maximum of 75 pounds, and push/pull up to a maximum of 300 pounds, various supplies and/or equipment </li></ul> <p>This job description is subject to change and in no manner states or implies that these are the only duties and responsibilities to be performed by the incumbent.
