<p>Job Title: Teacher - Physical Education, K-12</p> <p>Supervisor: Principal or Designee</p> <p>Start Date: July 1, 2025 - June 30, 2026 Position: Full-Time, 11 Months</p> <p>Hours: 8:00 AM - 3:30 PM</p> <p>Position Overview</p> <p>Codman Academy Charter Public School seeks a dynamic K-12 Physical Education (PE) Teacher to lead a high-quality, inclusive physical education program aligned with the Open Physical Education Curriculum (OPEN PE). The ideal candidate will foster a love for movement, teamwork, and lifelong fitness, while promoting physical, social, and emotional well-being. The PE teacher will provide developmentally appropriate instruction, incorporating skills-based learning, cooperative activities, and health-focused fitness strategies for students across all grade levels.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <p>Curriculum & Instruction</p> <ul> <li> <p>Design and implement engaging, standards-based PE lessons using the OPEN PE Curriculum, emphasizing skill development, teamwork, and fitness.</p> </li><li> <p>Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including students with disabilities and English Language Learners (ELLs).</p> </li><li> <p>Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment that encourages student participation and personal growth.</p> </li><li> <p>Integrate social-emotional learning (SEL) strategies to support students' self-regulation, cooperation, and resilience.</p> </li><li> <p>Assess student progress using formative and summative assessments, focusing on skill mastery, effort, and personal fitness goals.</p> </li></ul> <p>Health & Wellness Promotion</p> <ul> <li> <p>Promote lifelong health, fitness, and wellness by educating students on physical activity, nutrition, and healthy lifestyle choices.</p> </li><li> <p>Implement activities that emphasize movement exploration, cardiovascular fitness, strength training, and flexibility across all grade levels.</p> </li><li> <p>Encourage teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal goal-setting through structured activities and cooperative games.</p> </li></ul> <p>Collaboration & School Engagement</p> <ul> <li> <p>Work closely with classroom teachers, special educators, and school counselors to integrate physical education with broader learning goals.</p> </li><li> <p>Organize school-wide fitness events, field days, and intramural activities to engage students in physical activity beyond the classroom.</p> </li><li> <p>Build strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues to promote a culture of health and wellness throughout the school.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain inventory of PE equipment and ensure a safe environment for all activities.</p> </li></ul> <p>Qualifications & Experience</p> <p>Required:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Health Education, or a related field.</p> </li><li> <p>Massachusetts teaching certification in Physical Education (PreK-12).</p> </li><li> <p>Experience teaching PE in a K-12 setting with diverse student populations.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong knowledge of child development, motor skills, and differentiated instruction.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor to support student learning and overall school success.</p> </li></ul> <p>Preferred:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Experience implementing the Open Physical Education (OPEN PE) curriculum.</p> </li><li> <p>Background in adaptive physical education to support students with disabilities.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of restorative practices, SEL integration, and trauma-informed teaching strategies.</p> </li><li> <p>CPR and First Aid Certification.</p> </li></ul> <p>Salary Range: Based on CACPS scale</p> <p>Why Join Codman Academy?</p> <p>Codman Academy is a mission-driven charter school committed to fostering academic excellence, character development, and whole-child wellness.
