Learning Today, Leading Tomorrow is the heart of our mission.</p> <p>Position Purpose:</p> <p>Under the supervision of the Director of Special Services, the ESY Special Education Teacher is responsible for implementing students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) during the Extended School Year. This includes providing specialized instruction, accommodations, and services as outlined in each student's IEP. Teachers will support student growth in academic, behavioral, and/or social-emotional areas based on ESY eligibility and planning team decisions.</p> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Provide instruction and services as outlined in student IEPs for those requiring Extended School Year support </li><li>Design and deliver individualized and small-group instruction based on students' IEP goals and objectives </li><li>Modify and adapt instructional methods and materials to meet individual learning needs </li><li>Maintain accurate documentation of student progress related to goals/objectives </li><li>Foster a safe, positive, and structured learning environment </li><li>Collaborate with related service providers and paraprofessionals to ensure coordinated delivery of services </li><li>Communicate effectively with families and program administrators regarding student progress and needs </li><li>Ensure student safety and supervision throughout the ESY program hours </li></ul> <p>Additional Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Director of Special Services or building-level administrators </li><li>Maintain compliance with special education procedures and timelines </li></ul> <p>Equipment Used:</p> <ul> <li>Standard school technology (computers, printers, document cameras, etc.) </li><li>Instructional tools and assistive technology as needed </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Strong understanding of special education laws and IEP implementation </li><li>Proficiency in differentiated instruction and data collection methods </li><li>Knowledge of disability categories, specially designed instruction, and behavior intervention techniques </li><li>Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills </li><li>Ability to adapt and problem-solve in a dynamic teaching environment </li></ul> <p>Work Environment:</p> <ul> <li>Work takes place in school classrooms and instructional spaces </li><li>May involve physical activity such as assisting students with mobility needs or behavioral support plans </li></ul> <p>Certification/License:</p> <ul> <li>Valid Connecticut certification in Special Education (CT 165, 265, or appropriate equivalent) </li></ul> <p>Education:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree in Special Education or a related field required </li><li>Master's Degree preferred </li></ul> <p>Salary Range: $43.00 per hour</p> <p>FLSA: Hourly, Non-Exempt</p>
