<p>Operates knitting and sewing equipment within the Fabric Formation area of the Manufacturing Solutions Center (MSC). Works with entrepreneurs and existing businesses to assist in product creation and development process.</p> <p>Supervision Received and Exercised</p> <p>Receives administrative direction from the MSC DirectorImportant responsibilities and duties may include but are not limited to the following:</p> <p>Operates sewing equipment on MSC "Best Practices" Sewing Line. Communicates with equipment suppliers to assess new equipment and makes recommendations on future MSC equipment purchases.</p> <p>Works with Fabric Formation Manager on knitting projects.</p> <p>Executes cut sew process for Santoni produced fabric.</p> <p>Provides support to Hosiery Knitting area with machine operation and boarding assistance as appropriate.</p> <p>Works with entrepreneurs and existing businesses to help develop their products and then source products to US manufacturers, including involvement in prototyping and sampling.</p> <p>Works with yarn and knitting companies to help trouble-shoot problems and on efficiency projects.</p> <p>Works with MSC staff to handle invoicing for projects.Assists with workforce training related to cut/sew process.</p> <p>Assists with providing customized support to clients related to cut/sew process. Potential to create training materials to help with workforce training.</p> <p>Monitors and evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures.</p> <p>Continuously upgrades knowledge and skills of new types of knitting equipment and the computer software required to run this equipment.</p> <p>Assists with maintenance of sewing equipment as directed by Fabric Formation Manager.</p> <p>Orders parts, tools, yarn, and repairs for the sewing equipment.</p> <p>Assists with visits from schools and other interested parties.</p> <p>Performs other duties as assigned.Experience and Training Guidelines</p> <p>Experience</p> <p>Experience in textiles and experience with operating sewing equipment preferred.</p> <p>Training/Education:</p> <p>Equivalent to a Two Year Associate degree from an accredited college</p> <p>Knowledge of:</p> <ul> <li>Cut and sew process and sewing equipment. </li><li>Pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes and regulations. </li><li>Computer programs such as Word and Excel. </li><li>Strong communication skills, working with internal and external customers. </li></ul> <p>Ability To:</p> <ul> <li>Operate cut/sew equipment, or be trained to operate equipment. </li><li>Interpret and apply federal, state, and local policies, laws, and regulations as needed. </li><li>Assist with training on cut/sew equipment and other equipment located within Fabric Formation area. </li><li>Research, analyze, and evaluate new service delivery methods and techniques. </li><li>Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. </li><li>Work with entrepreneurs and businesses to create product which uses cut/sew equipment. </li><li>Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. </li><li>Maintain cut & sew equipment in the MSC Fabric Formation area. </li></ul> <p>Environmental Conditions:</p> <p>Indoor working environment; working with machinery; periodically working irregular hours; exposure to textile dyes and chemicals.</p> <p>All advertised positions are contingent upon available funding.</p> <p>All employees are paid by direct deposit only.</p> <p>Class specifications are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed by employees in the class.  Specifications are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job.</p>
