<p>Compensation Range</p> <p>$98,467.20 - $124,737.60</p> <ul> <li>- </li></ul> <p>Job Description Summary</p> <p>Oversee workers through fundamental, new hire training and facilitate on-the-job training including heavy equipment operation. To train and equip employees for successful and gainful employment within Public Works department. This position works heavily with Human Resources in a coordinated effort to shadow and learn day-to-day activities to help promote a safe environment through education with an emphasis on injury prevention for workers and damage prevention to the environment and/or equipment. Training will include promoting safety-minded behavior and identifying hazards in the workplace. The PW Trainer will seek out innovative ways to provide training and education for adherence to regulations on safety, health, FMCSA regulations, MSHA regulations and the environment. Must design training programs with emphasis on consistent equipment, truck and vehicle operation throughout all divisions.</p> <p>The Public Works Trainer is responsible for developing and delivering training and development programs for the Public Works Department, by using personal knowledge and outside resources. The PW Trainer will seek out innovative ways to provide training and education for adherence to regulations on safety, health, FMCSA regulations, MSHA regulations and the environment. This position will partner closely with the Weld County Risk Team and will have an strong emphasis on risk reduction and creating a culture that focuses on a safe workplace for both the employees and citizens of Weld County.</p> <ul> <li>- </li></ul> <p>Job Description</p> <p>Training - 50%</p> <ul> <li>Create and facilitate new employee training program to provide continuity across all Divisions within Public works to assure all new employees have the appropriate training from the beginning of employment. </li><li>Create annual training refresher courses to assure consistent monthly safety training amongst each Division within the Department. </li><li>Will lead all accident investigations throughout the Department of Public Works. </li><li>Provide heavy equipment operator training when necessary. </li><li>Provide post-accident or near miss training and documentation </li><li>Provide training on proper equipment, truck and vehicle operating techniques in relation to construction, operations and engineering divisions within Public Works. </li><li>Provide trainings in adherence to regulations on safety, health, FMCSA regulations, MSHA regulations, and environment. </li><li>Lead Public Works Annual Safety Day </li></ul> <p>Collaboration - 20%</p> <ul> <li>Collaboration with Weld County Human Resources Risk Team to focus on risk mitigation. </li><li>Provide expert advice and opinions weekly with each Division Supervisor within the Department of Public Works to identify and create division specific training. </li><li>Provide advice and opinions on accident mitigation with Department Head and Deputy Director weekly basis. </li><li>Serve on the Accident Review Committee in a consultant capacity providing expert guidance and advice on accident mitigation by explaining conceptual and complex information. </li><li>Serve as a Subject Matter Expert on the Public Works Policy Committee. </li><li>Collaborate with County Learning and Development Coordinator on leadership training opportunities. </li></ul> <p>Administration - 20%</p> <ul> <li>Track and maintain staff training participation data. Create and track pre and post evaluation and training assessments. </li><li>Provide data analysis on accidents and injuries to inform decisions on future policies and trainings. </li><li>Lead training audits of the department and/or contractors to ensure regulatory compliance. </li><li>Assists in the preparation of budget documents, researches data for budget justification, and may recommend budget allocations. </li></ul> <p>Other Duties as Assigned - 10%</p> <ul> <li>Additional overtime duties may be required. </li><li>Assist with snow desk, emergency operation responsibilities, and work extraordinary hours in such cases, including night-time hours, weekends and/or holidays. </li><li>Follow policies and procedures, the Weld County Code of Conduct and adhere to strict confidentiality guidelines and appropriate release of information outlined in both. </li><li>Not all duties mentioned may be applicable to every position, and the examples provided do not encompass all possible duties that may exist within this job classification. </li><li>Percentages of time in the above job duty categories may fluctuate. </li><li>- </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <p>Required Education</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree Construction Management or related field </li></ul> <p>Experience Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>8 years experience in a construction, work environment. Hazardous Materials training and knowledge preferred or </li></ul> <p>Preferred Experience</p> <ul> <li>10+ years experience in a construction, work environment. Hazardous Materials training and knowledge preferred </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Must have a demonstrated proficiency in the following areas: Use and application of County Code and Policy, Safety Specifications for </li><li>Road and Bridge Construction, AASHTO, and any other applicable reference manuals as a source for regulations to assignments and county service issues. </li><li>Ability to read construction plans and provide infrastructure management support. </li><li>Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. </li><li>Ability to efficiently and concisely verbally communicate. </li><li>Ability to effectively present information to management and public groups. </li><li>Ability to apply standard mathematical operations and calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions and monetary functions. </li><li>Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written and oral formats. </li><li>Candidate must pass a background check prior to employment start date. </li><li>Candidate must pass a substance use screening prior to employment start date. </li></ul> <p>Licenses and Certifications</p> <ul> <li>Driver License, Valid and in State Valid Colorado driver's license.
