<p>Position Summary:</p> <p>Create strong social media content, pitch creative ideas, develop and execute content plans that support and align with the Division's strategic communications plan. Accurately research, organize and interpret information. Assist in the coordination/preparation of strategic communications plans, including content plans. Exercise strong knowledge and proficient use of social media channels including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and YouTube. Exhibit sound judgement as it relates to all forms of communication.</p> <p>We encourage candidates to demonstrate their qualifications in their resumes and social media samples.</p> <p>Responsible for supporting and implementing the Iowa GROW program with student employees as a part of our commitment to student success.</p> <p>Specific Job Duties & Tasks:</p> <ul> <li>Manages, writes, edits, and produces social media communications for designated channels. </li><li>Attends university events to capture content for social media. </li><li>Collects, interprets, and shares analytics regarding social media presence. </li><li>Identify opportunities for promotion and content that align with the Division's strategic goals. </li><li>Works with areas of coverage to develop and allocate marketing budget for social media. </li><li>Hires, trains, schedules, develops, and evaluates part-time staff; counsels and pursues disciplinary action as needed. </li></ul> <p>For a detailed job description, please email Alaysia McAtee at alaysia-mcatee@uiowa.edu</p> <p>About the Division of Student Life:</p> <p>The Division of Student Life is comprised of staff that embrace new ideas and thoughts, works together to keep our students safe, and provides them with life-changing experiences. The Division of Student Life includes 15 departments that span from Recreation Services to the Office of Leadership, Service and Civic Engagement and everything in between. We believe in working together as one team to achieve our mission: fostering student success by creating and promoting educationally purposeful services and activities within and beyond the classroom.</p> <p>Required Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in strategic communications, marketing, journalism, or related field or an equivalent combination of education and related experience. </li><li>Experience (typically 1-3 years) in communications, marketing, or public relations. </li><li>Extensive knowledge of marketing channels including public relations, web and social media. Demonstrated experience developing and executing communications plans. Working knowledge of social media analytic tracking. This should include experience writing professionally for a variety of platforms (print, web, social media, etc.). </li><li>Demonstrated vision, initiative, and ability to work as part of a team. </li><li>Superior written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills. This includes the ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors. </li><li>Commitment to and alignment with the values of the Division of Student Life, including an active commitment to excellence through creation of welcoming and respectful environments. </li><li>Extensive ability to manage multiple concurrent projects or activities, effectively judging priorities and allocation of time. </li><li>Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite software programs (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). </li><li>Demonstrated experience managing social media presence for large organization(s). </li></ul> <p>Highly Desirable Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Previous experience in higher education or student services. </li><li>Previous supervisory experience, preferably including supervision of student employees. </li></ul> <p>Desirable Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Familiarity and experience with working in a college or university setting. </li><li>Preference for experience of 3+ years. </li><li>Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite software programs. </li><li>Working knowledge of automated work order systems to manage multiple, concurrent projects. </li><li>Some experience with planning and execution of large initiatives. </li></ul> <p>Application Details:</p> <p>In order to be considered, applicants must upload a resume and cover letter and mark them as a "Relevant File" to the submission.</p> <p>Successful candidates will be required to self-disclose any conviction history and will be subject to a criminal background check and credential/education verification.</p> <p>Job openings are posted for a minimum of 14 calendar days and may be removed from posting and filled any time after the original posting period has ended.
