<p>The City of Norfolk's Department of Utilities is seeking qualified candidates for a Maintenance Worker II in our Wastewater Division. The Maintenance Worker II is needed to perform general labor duties to include the maintenance of equipment, fueling equipment, unloading materials, and digging.</p> <p>Essential functions include but are not limited to:</p> <p> </p> <ul> <li>Digs and refills trenches and other excavations; cuts asphalt and concrete; maintains lawns. </li></ul> <p> </p> <ul> <li>Loads, unloads, lifts and carries tools, equipment and chemicals. </li></ul> <p> </p> <ul> <li>Maintain and repair underground wastewater service lines, cleaning work areas, perform related maintenance duties. </li></ul> <p> </p> <ul> <li>Transports materials and personnel to work sites. </li></ul> <p> </p> <ul> <li>Climbs stairs and ladders; bends, stoops, pushes, pulls, lifts and carries up to 75 lbs.; may stand for more than six hours. </li></ul> <p> </p> <ul> <li>Requires knowledge of construction equipment, materials and work tasks. </li></ul> <p> </p> <ul> <li>Requires ability to follow oral and written instructions. </li></ul> <p>Work requires the ability to read and understand written instructions, to understand simple processes and the routine operation of machines. Level of knowledge equivalent to high school or equivalency.</p> <p>One year as a Maintenance Worker.</p> <p>The preferred candidate will possess one year experience of maintenance repair. </p> <p>Valid driver's license required</p> <p>Work Hours:  Monday - Friday; 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.</p> <p>Work Locations: 1316 Ballentine Boulevard, Norfolk, Virginia </p> <p>This is an 'Essential' position which means you may be required to work nights, weekends, rotating shifts, holidays, etc. in response to severe weather events and emergencies.</p> <p> </p>
