<p>DISTRICT OVERVIEW</p> <p>Holyoke Public Schools is a PreK-12 public school district serving nearly 4,800 students, of whom 80 percent are Latino/Latina, in 11 schools. We employ nearly 1,300 people who together educate and support a richly diverse community of learners. These include:</p> <ul> <li>The highest graduation rate on record of 77.1 percent, an increase of more than 15-points over 10 years </li><li>Meaningful, applied learning opportunities for high school students, including theme-based academies, career vocational technical education programming, work-based learning, and advanced coursework </li><li>A comprehensive approach to early literacy that includes strong core instruction and one-on-one tutoring, contributing to more students reading at grade level </li><li>A thriving dual language English/Spanish program, where nearly 900 students are on their path to becoming bilingual, biliterate, and bicultural </li><li>More than one-third of Holyoke teachers identify as people of color, a 19-point increase over 10 years. Morgan Elementary School serves as a key instructional and cultural leader, working in close partnership with the Principal and Leadership Team to ensure high-quality teaching and learning, a safe and inclusive school environment, and strong systems that support student success. This role is grounded in the school's mission to ensure every student feels safe, valued, and excited to learn.</p> <p>I. Instructional Leadership</p> <p>The Assistant Principal will:</p> <ul> <li>Lead and support the implementation of high-quality, standards-aligned Tier 1 instruction across all classrooms </li><li>Facilitate and support MTSS structures (Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3) for academics, behavior, and social-emotional learning </li><li>Conduct frequent classroom observations, walkthroughs, and coaching cycles using a See It ? Name It ? Do It model </li><li>Support teachers in planning and delivering rigorous, engaging instruction, including Strong Starts, discourse, and checks for understanding </li><li>Analyze student data (MCAS, benchmarks, classroom assessments) to drive instructional decisions and interventions </li><li>Support and develop teacher leaders (e.g., Expert Teachers, Advanced Teachers) to build instructional capacity </li><li>Ensure equitable access to grade-level content and inclusive practices aligned to Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) expectations </li></ul> <p>II. Management and Operations</p> <p>The Assistant Principal will:</p> <ul> <li>Support daily school operations, including arrival, dismissal, transitions, and safety protocols </li><li>Ensure systems are in place for student supervision, attendance monitoring, and staff coverage </li><li>Oversee and support MCAS and other assessment administration with fidelity and compliance </li><li>Maintain clear and consistent systems for communication, scheduling, and logistics </li><li>Collaborate with the school leadership team to ensure efficient, organized, and student-centered operations </li><li>Uphold and reinforce district and school policies, including safety, visitor protocols, and compliance requirements </li></ul> <p>III. Family and Community Engagement</p> <p>The Assistant Principal will:</p> <ul> <li>Build strong, trusting relationships with families through clear, consistent, and culturally responsive communication </li><li>Support family outreach efforts related to attendance, behavior, and academic progress </li><li>Partner with families and community organizations to strengthen student support systems and engagement opportunities </li><li>Promote a welcoming and inclusive school environment that reflects the diversity of the Morgan community </li><li>Support schoolwide events, initiatives, and partnerships that enhance family involvement and community connection </li></ul> <p>IV. Professional Culture</p> <p>The Assistant Principal will:</p> <ul> <li>Foster a positive, collaborative, and accountable staff culture grounded in the school's core values </li><li>Support implementation of PBIS and restorative practices to ensure a safe and supportive school climate </li><li>Lead and facilitate professional learning communities (PLCs) and staff development aligned to school priorities </li><li>Model professionalism, reflection, and continuous improvement in all aspects of leadership </li><li>Provide clear, actionable feedback to staff and support their growth and development </li><li>Uphold high expectations for staff attendance, performance, and accountability </li></ul> <p>Core Leadership Priorities at Morgan</p> <ul> <li>High-Quality Instruction: Ensuring every student has access to rigorous, engaging, and standards-aligned learning </li><li>Student Belonging: Creating a school where every student feels safe, valued, and connected </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Massachusetts licensure as a School Administrator/Assistant Principal (PreK-6 or appropriate level) </li><li>Master's degree in Education or related field </li><li>Demonstrated experience in instructional leadership, coaching, and school culture development </li><li>Strong knowledge of MTSS, inclusive practices, and data-driven instruction </li><li>Commitment to equity, culturally responsive practices, and student-centered leadership </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Experience in an urban school district, bilingualism is a plus </li><li>Background in elementary education and/or special education </li><li>Experience leading PBIS, restorative practices, or schoolwide culture systems </li></ul>
