<p>Job Responsibilities</p> <p>Are you an experienced professional looking for new opportunities to further your career? The South Carolina Governor's School for Agriculture at John de la Howe is seeking a hardworking and dependable candidate just like you to apply! This position will offer great benefits with the state, including 15 days of annual and sick leave per year or more depending on applicable state service.</p> <p>The interventionist will assist the students and teachers in the following activities, but not limited to:</p> <ul> <li> <p>The implementation of the instructional programs.</p> </li><li> <p>The preparation of materials and activities.</p> </li><li> <p>Non-instructional tasks such as electronic and physical recordkeeping.</p> </li><li> <p>Assess students and remediate needs.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide assistance to students with academic and emotional needs.</p> </li><li> <p>Other duties as assigned by the teacher/principal.</p> </li></ul> <p>The employee will work under the direct supervision of the Special Education teacher/Administrator and overall supervision of the principal. The employee will be required to supervise students. The employee will need to be able to relate and work well with students and adults, as well as maintain confidentiality based on HIPPA and FERPA rules. The employee will occasionally lift and or move up to 50 pounds such as boxes and materials. The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, listen and/or reach with hands /arms and use a computer monitor.</p> <ul> <li>Handle confidential documents and information in an appropriate manner; maintain confidential files and records of students. </li><li>Interact with students, teachers and staff in the performance of duties with students. </li><li>Implement reading, writing and math intervention plans. </li><li>Provide individual and small group intervention instruction, including the use of MTSS procedures and strategies. </li><li>Collaborate and communicate regularly with teachers concerning student progress. </li><li>Use student data to guide instruction. </li><li>Plan, establish and maintain procedures for managing student behaviors to achieve an effective learning environment and maximize instructional </li></ul> <p>time while supervising students and during instruction.</p> <ul> <li>Use a variety of formal and informal assessments to progress monitor and guide instruction to provide feedback. </li><li>Evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and instructional strategies on an ongoing basis. </li><li>Create and maintain a safe environment for learning through functional and attractive displays. </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned by the special education administrator and/ or principal. </li></ul> <p>Minimum and Additional Requirements</p> <ul> <li>A bachelor's degree and experience working with children. </li></ul> <p>Additional Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Basic knowledge of core subjects- English, Math, Science and Social Studies. </li><li>The ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies. </li><li>The ability to operate a computer, computer applications and other related electronic devices. </li><li>The ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and district employees. </li><li>The ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. </li><li>The ability to self-monitor and manage multiple tasks while working individually and with a group. </li></ul> <p>Additional Comments</p> <p>The SC Governor's School for Agriculture at John de la Howe is committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all applicants and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions, including, but not limited, to lactation), national origin, age (40 or older), disability or genetic information.</p> <p>Supplemental questions are considered part of your official application.
