Performs a variety of intermediate level patient care, laboratory duties, and works chairside as orthodontist examine and treat patients.</p> <p>Additional Information:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Mon-Fri 8am-4:30pm (40 hrs/wk)</p> </li><li> <p>RDA required</p> </li><li> <p>2 yrs of orthodontic or dental experience required</p> </li></ul> <p>Required Education:</p> <p>Certificate from college program or technical school approved by the AR State Board of Dental Examiners</p> <p>Recommended Education:</p> <p>Certificate from college program or technical school</p> <p>Required Work Experience:</p> <p>Related Field - 2 years of experience</p> <p>Recommended Work Experience:</p> <p>Clinics - Related_1 year Pediatric experience</p> <p>Required Certifications:</p> <p>Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) (formerly CDA) - Arkansas State Board of Dental Examiners</p> <p>Recommended Certifications:</p> <p>Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) - Dental Assistant National Board, Inc</p> <p>Description</p> <ol> <li> <p>Makes patients as comfortable as possible in the dental chair, prepares them for treatment, and obtains their dental records.</p> </li><li> <p>Assistants hands instruments and materials to orthodontists and keeps patients' mouths dry and clear by using suction or other devices.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensures equipment utilized is in good working order.</p> </li><li> <p>Reviews and maintains dental records documenting assessments and care provided.</p> </li><li> <p>Reviews consent and medical history prior to treatment.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepares impression trays, orthodontic banding/bonding, arch wire ligation and removal, takes dental x-rays, removing sutures, placing matrices, placing and removing rubber bands, ligature ties and separators, removes excess cement from restorations and bands and takes clinical photographs.</p> </li><li> <p>Handles instrument cleaning, sterilization/disinfection and re-circulation. Performs dental room/chair disinfection.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepares casting models and dies, pours impressions to make stone and plaster models, and fabricates mouth guards, retainers and custom impression trays.</p> </li><li> <p>Assists in patient/family education through written and oral explanation.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs audits as assigned.</p> </li><li> <p>Cross trained to 2 other specialties within the department.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledgeable of all policies.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs other duties as assigned.</p> </li></ol>
