<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Torrington Public Schools is seeking candidates for Special Education Paraeducators.</p> <p>Under the direction of a certified teacher, the paraeducator works with students with disabilities in small groups or individually, reinforcing instruction as directed by the teacher.</p> <p>Assists in the maintenance of materials, equipment, and records of students and any additional tasks as deemed necessary by the special education teacher or supervisor in order to meet the needs of each child according to their IEP.</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Associate Degree and/or 60 college credits or successful passing of the Para-Pro Exam. </li><li>Previous experience working in a school setting or with groups of children preferred. </li><li>Warm and supportive personality with the ability to relate to children with a variety of special needs and disabilities </li><li>Ability to maintain the rules of confidentiality and the rights of all children. </li></ul> <p>Terms of Employment: 10-month schedule, 184 work days, 35 hours per week.
