EO/AA</p> <p>This position has responsibility for providing advanced life support for critically ill/injured obstetrical and neonatal patients at the scene or inter-hospital facility as part of an air transport team, under the stresses of flight and hazardous environmental conditions. This position may be required to access and administer medications within their scope of practice and according to State Law.</p> <p>Corporate Overview: The University of Utah is a Level 1 Trauma Center and is nationally ranked and recognized for our academic research, quality standards and overall patient experience. Our five hospitals and eleven clinics provide excellence in our comprehensive services, medical advancement, and overall patient outcomes.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Participates as an active member of the Airmed Air Transport Team and is responsible for performing assigned duties. </li><li>Manages and cares for the high risk obstetric and NBICU patient. </li><li>Assists with locating and establishing a landing zone for the aircraft. </li><li>Transports, lifts and carries various weights (up to 50 lbs) and diameters of equipment at the scene of an accident. </li><li>Provides and oversees direct patient care assessing, diagnosing and evaluating actual or potential health problems while the patient is being transported. </li><li>Plans, evaluates and implements interventions for solving patient care problems according to needs and established nursing protocols. </li><li>Transfers patients and equipment from aircraft, carts and gurneys during the loading and unloading phases of transport operations. </li><li>Provides written support documentation to follow-up patient information. </li><li>Maintains a safe and therapeutic patient care environment. </li><li>Trains and assists new staff either at the scene or an inter-hospital facility. </li><li>Provides in-patient IV services as required. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge / Skills / Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrated potential ability to perform the essential functions as outlined above. </li><li>Ability to provide care to the population served. </li><li>Ability to maintain education requirements as outlined by the Commission of Accreditation of Medical Transports Systems (CAMTS) and facilitated by Nurse Educator. </li><li>Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and the ability to assess data regarding the patient's status and provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures manual. </li><li>Demonstrated knowledge and use of a variety of equipment to include: Sapphire Pump, Zoll Monitor/Defibrillator, Glidescope, and other miscellaneous tools and equipment used in rescue and transport operations. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to function calmly and competently in high stress situations. </li><li>Ability to function during regularly scheduled, 24 hour, extended or alternative shifts. </li><li>Ability to display mental and emotional stamina in situations dealing with death, multiple patients, family members, etc. </li><li>Ability to deal with the hazards involved in assessing and providing care to patients. </li><li>Ability to lift and carry various weight and diameters of equipment. </li><li>Demonstrated professional behavior at all times and in circumstances that are job-related. </li><li>Ability to meet AirMed weight requirement of less than 215 lbs. while fully dressed for flight duty. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Required</p> <ul> <li>Five years experience in High Risk Labor and Delivery or level 3 NBICU. </li><li>AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Heart Rate certification within six months of hire (For High Risk OB Nurse). </li><li>Obtain RNC within 1 year of hire (Options: RNC-OB, RNC-EFM, RNC-NICU). </li></ul> <p>Licenses Required</p> <ul> <li>Current RQI Healthcare Provider ALS eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system. The ALS eCredential is to be obtained within 90 days of hire </li><li>Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system. The eCredential is to be obtained within 30 days of hire. </li><li>Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Utah, or obtain one within 90 days of hire under the interstate compact if switching residency to State of Utah. Must maintain current Interstate Compact (multi-state) license if residency is not being changed to Utah. </li><li>Current Neonatal Resuscitation Certification to be obtained within 90 days of hire. </li><li>Current RQI Healthcare Provider PALS eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system. The PALS eCredential is to be obtained within 90 days of hire. </li><li>Additional license requirements as determined by the hiring department. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications (Preferred)</p> <p>Preferred</p> <ul> <li>STABLE (optional, recommended if never taken the course before). </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions and Physical Demands</p> <p>Employee must be able to meet the following requirements with or without an accommodation.</p> <ul> <li>This position involves intensive work that my exert up to 100 pounds and may consistently require lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling or otherwise moving objects, such as medical equipment, or patients while providing medical care. Workers in this position are subject the hazards of air flight and environmental conditions at the scene of patient pick up.
