<p>The Nature Center Technician primarily (80%) assists with maintenance of the grounds, facilities, and equipment of the Outagamie County Parks System at Mosquito Hill Nature Center. Other duties (20%) will include assisting with educational programming.</p> <p>Typical Work Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM</p> <p>This is a seasonal position and is not eligible for benefits.</p> <p>Expected start date for this position is May and ends in August</p> <ul> <li>Cuts grass, trims trees and shrubs and performs other horticultural and gardening tasks. </li><li>Performs invasive species control including identification and removal of undesired species. </li><li>Maintains and cleans buildings and restrooms. </li><li>Maintains grounds and trail system. </li><li>May operate heavy or light equipment and assist with their maintenance and repair if qualifications allow. </li><li>Constructs and maintains signs, boardwalks and small bridges. </li><li>Assisting the staff with daily duties including leading educational field trips, and staffing major public events. </li><li>Some weekend work required. </li><li>Performs other related duties as assigned. </li><li>Must be at least 18 years old </li><li>Must have a valid driver's license </li><li>Must have the ability to lift items of 50lbs or more several times per shift </li><li>A background in Natural Resources is helpful but not required </li><li>Knowledge of landscaping, horticulture, and/or grounds maintenance </li><li>Ability to operate and maintain tools which may include but not limited to mowers, trimmers, and other landscaping equipment </li><li>Experience with invasive species identification and removal techniques </li><li>Trail maintenance and facility upkeep skills, including minor repairs </li><li>Ability to work independently on assigned maintenance tasks </li><li>·Strong teamwork and collaboration skills when working with staff and volunteers </li><li>Familiarity with local ecosystems, plants, and wildlife </li><li>Basic understanding of conservation and sustainability practices </li><li>This position requires working outdoors on trails and natural areas, including walking, bending, lifting, and working on uneven terrain in varying weather conditions.
